FrozNlite Wrote:You have a legit medical excuse for not drinking, though, so you shouldn't feel ashamed at parties or anything. That being said, high schoolers are immature pineappletards when drunk, and while freshman aren't much better, they learn fast, so you should still go to parties and enjoy. Just tell people your situation and enjoy the shenanigans.
WillDaSnail Wrote:Bryan, its okay. Never, EVER feel pressured to drink. Especially with your medical condition, you have a 100% legitimate excuse not to do so. I mean, I never drank before, and have resisted pressure from others to drink during my first year of college.

You have the right to make that choice on your own free will. Never let others pressure you, including friends. I would never be close with people I consider "friends" if they pressure me to do things that I have strong objections about.

That isn't a problem, though. No one pressures me after I explain my situation (although my doctor says alcohol does not interact with the medicine, they don't need to know that Wink). I have absolutely no interest in alcohol, either.
My problem lies with the fact that 99% of parties revolve around alcohol and getting "pomegranateface drunk." I have no interest in going to parties like that. No one just "hangs out" (without alcohol) anymore.

As for college, I have always been under the impression that people won't be spending that kind of money to get drunk and fail out of school (although many people do). I'm just hoping there are other people like me who would rather do something fun that doesn't involve drinking.

I've been invited to grad parties on facebook. In the description, it literally tells people to bring their own alcohol.

I can't wait to get out of high school.

Oh yeah, also found out one of my good (asian) friends played Maplestory. He quit when potential came out Rolleyes

Party drunkards tend to be first-second year students that are having their taste of freedom or that haven't grown out of their HS years, so I wouldn't worry. After second year you will start worrying about other matters and won't have the luxury of being drunk... well at least not as frequently.

Third+ years are people preparing for undergrad research/internships/whatever depending on area of study. So eh, I would say the party drunkards are a minority. Heck, I bet there are more animetards and gamers than stereotypical drunkards. Yes, I've witnessed hordes of animetards watching anime in a room slaughtering the Japanese language. *shudders*

Of course, my experience might differ because there are no campus dormitories where I go, the majority of the people live in "apartments" (rented/shared houses) so the city is pretty much a student city. No need to hang out at pops/bars to socialize with other peeps of your own age. I guess it also depends on the people that attends the campus overall though.

Anyway, make sure you enjoy college. Those four-five years go by extremely fast. Plus they are expensive as pineapple so you better enjoy it. lol

Fixed. Tongue1

Disclaimer: I do not strongly promote senioritis, as it will have a detrimental effect on you being able to go to college if you take it way too far.

Dropped my planned summer classes. Yeah, I could use those two classes to catch up a little, but I could also use a summer to myself where I'm not constantly worrying about classes.
