¬Rob Wrote:What level are you? I'm on act3 of nightmare with my wizard, been duoing with my only friend( ) on the game, he happens to be a Monk. I think he had something like 2k dps, and 15k hp @ level 45 and has only ever died at Belial(we've co-op'd since SK on normal till now).
If I could remember his battletag's last 4 digits, I'd tell you so you could ask for build help.
If you want, can add me, he'll surely be on when I am later. Handicapable#1410
I'm 42 as of just now, I've been doing it with 2 other people (a 48 Demon Hunter and a 42 Witch Doctor). Belial was horrible >_< I added you, my tag is Mazz#1584! Any build help would be great, I've been rotating everything so I don't really have one set that I've been using. Hopefully by the time I get to level 50 or so I'll be doing a little better, I'm not hugely concerned about the low damage because if I'm with other people I can use Cyclone to drag things toward me and then dodge/tank them and heal myself and whoever I'm partied with, but that only works well if I can actually stay alive. xD
Anyone else is free to add me too if you want =o Friends are always nice.

If you're having trouble surviving, I've been using Crippling Blow - Concussion, Cyclone Strike - Wall of Wind, Breath of Heaven - Blazing Wrath, Serenity - Peaceful Repose, Mantra of Healing - Boon of Protection, and I recommend Transendence and Chant of Resonance with some Spirit Regen gear. Cyclone Strike with Crippling Blow allows you to have really high crowd control. I feel every other generator doesn't work well enough for this style, and it hurts me more than helps me when I try others since their attacking area is rather poor in comparison. I'd switch for Dashing Strike in that case. Concussion reduces enemy damage by 20%, and Crippling Blow slows enemy movement and attack speed. It should stack with the Resolve passive skill if you need even more reduction. The Dodge Chance of Wall of Wind helps you not die if you're pulling things in. Blazing Wrath adds damage, but you can swap with the extra healing rune if that's an issue for you. Serenity is an amazing escape skill. You can use it almost any time except if you've been knocked in midair. I always pop it off right before a freeze, arcane sentry, or a particularly heavy hit so I don't die, and I have the healing rune in it. Mantra of Healing adds quite a bit of passive healing. I can generate enough spirit to usually constantly use it every time Boon of Protection wears off, but you need some spirit regen to make it work well in this case. Boon of Protection adds a damage absorb so you can pop it right before a heavy hit to dull it a bit. Transendence lets you heal more when you're using spirit, and it's perfect with Mantra of Healing. Chant of Resonance adds spirit regen. The duration is rather a stupid effect. I wish there was a skill that added range for mantras. Mantra of Healing's activation bonus also activates Guiding Light, so you can add some DPS to the party.
At bosses, I swap to a better single target like Hundred Fists or Fists of Thunder, with Exploding Palm's first rune instead of Crippling Blow and Cyclone Strike for dps.

All this talk about the difficulty of Nightmare+, it's sounding like the old school Diablo 2 already, needing loads of resist/damage reduction/leeching gear/skills just to not die. I'm quite curious how this will all turn out, especially given the huge lack of potion spamming of the Full Rejuv kind.

Thanks so much! I've switched to Crippling Blow/Concussion (Instead of Fists of Thunder) and Cyclone Strike/WoW (instead of whichever rune increases the pulling range). I have Breath of Heaven with Circle of Life because it feels like the extra life helps, I have Serenity with Peaceful Repose too, and Mantra with Healing/Boon. I have Transcendence and Chant of Resonance and Beacon of Ytar in the 3rd slot (though I'm not convinced that it's actually helping.. so I may change that. The +Spirit passive seemed useful though. Can't remember the name of it)
I switched from two weapons to a weapon and a shield (didn't realise this counted as dual wielding, not sure why I didn't try it before) so I'm a bit more tanky now too. I'm up to 1675 armor, 891 damage, 623 vitality and 14.6k HP, going to see how this goes for a bit on Nightmare in a group of 3. I'm still the person that dies the most (which is fairly embarrassing given how many healing skills I have) but not nearly as much as I was yesterday/earlier today. ^_^

Depends on the class. Ranged classes (WD, DH, Wiz) go full glass cannon build and just kite like bosses, where as Monk and Barb have to build defensively and focus mainly on VIT as their main stat with STR / DEX as their secondary.

Why would a WD ever go full glass cannon and kite when they have so many amazing damage reducing skills and ways to survive?
And let's say i did go full glass cannon and kite, if my spirit walk is on CD and i face a jailer/vortex/fast, i will get killed in most situations.
I've been using variations of this build: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/wi...ZcU!caaZYY
And it allows a WD to take damage and dish out crazy amounts of damage without going OOM.
Note: I'm not saying it can't work to kite, but the two best skills for clearing mobs is from what i've experienced by far plague bats and zombie bears. And they both require you to be somewhat close to your enemy.
This build obviously isn't optimal for bossing since it's for clearing more than 1 enemy.

Don't ask me, ask all the people who fully cleared Inferno. I'm just repeating what they said.

I found trying to glass cannon on a wizard extremely hard. Things run as fast or faster than i do, so trying to just run around and dodge is pointless (course i'm not using teleport). I can sorta pull it off by casting venom hydras in front of me while i run, which eat away at my pursuers. Very close to moving into Hell now. Should be interesting.

Teleport helps a lot. I'm using Frost Nova (Cold Snap), Teleport (Reversal), and Blizzard (Frozen Solid) with the Evocation passive and I'm pretty much untouchable by melee enemies. Jailers are a joke and Wallers just trap themselves. Desecrators and Mortars still suck.

See my earlier post for my Wizard survivablility build, except swap Cold Beam for Disintegrate. I don't exactly need Hydra right now except for scouting.
Suicide bombers are incredibly painful.

3.1k DPS??! And here I was happy with 110 DPS at level 24. Holy crap stats scale insanely at the higher levels.

My DPS stands around 20kish right now. And I still take a while to kill some elite packs. >_>

I'm at 11k Damage right now. Some friends and I farmed Whimsyville on hell last night, currently sitting at 1.4m gold. I price checked it, and apparently it's worth the price of the game. Feels good.
Edit:
Also, Justin, how far are you into Inferno?

I'm not even on inferno. LOL I'm just about to kill Azmo on hell. Then act 4....ugh. I've been soloing almost this entire time, so you can imagine how difficult things can be sometimes.

I have a freaking good 3-4 Demon Hunter weapons, 4-6 DEX related items in my stash, and quite a few INT items in my stash. It's trying to tell me something here this game.

First person, sci-fi FPS is somewhat similar to Borderlands...? I don't catch your drift... I mean besides the part that you level up and have skills, that's about it... I mean... Maple is like Diablo guys! Haha not trying to troll or anything I see what your friend is saying
Anyways am I the only one that feels that Barbarian is OP? I tried Wizard, ehh to me it felt rather weak. Demon Hunter was pretty good, but too slow for my tastes, but that was probably because I didn't have any 1h crossbow yet. MERCEDES CLASS Seriously I'm just using the junk I find on the ground and I 1 hit nearly all mobs that I've come across so far except for those semi-boss ones and the ones that are bloated and esplode bones and shiz.
Then again I am on normal.

No no no. Many of Borderlands ideas (such as totally random gear) came from Diablo, but in FPS form. It ended up being a part of a temporary Diablo fix until the real thing arrived. :V

Dunno. I was chugging HP potions a ton and dying horribly late Act I to early Act II until I obtained better gear by mid Act II, mostly of the STR/VIT/Health Globe recovery variety. Then I was steamrolling everything without a care in the world, my HP just recovering like mad from 200~400 HP globes. As many Barbarian players here are discussing though, at the higher difficulties gonna need more survivability related abilities. I know Dark Link/Josh is using a shield, meaning he can't go all out with 2 weapons. Also maining passives that increased armor, as well as the +20% armor shout.
