The Legend of Korra
Chilly Wrote:Korra and company seem to lose a lot.

And Aang and friends didn't?

It's obvious the equalists are always a step ahead. Why would losing come as a surprise? They didn't expect PLATINUM. They didn't expect BIG ASS SUITS OF BADASSERY. Just like aang and friends didn't expect war ships during the eclipse, they were completely outclassed.

F'uck yeah Lin.

kinda saw that coming... So how do you stop a non-bender versus bender war? In the original Aang could stop the benders' war by taking away bending, but Korra can't do this in this case. I really want to see her find a way into the spirit world right now for advice (that and I wanna see Aang Dx)

The reason why they can't bend platinum is because it's pure platinum? It's still metal... Kinda like the mecha suits. They're like steampunk gundams xD

Can't wait to see what Lin does in the upcoming episodes.

Well I don't download them. I watch the show when it premieres or rely on Nick.com. I know where to watch the early uploaded footage/stream from the fans, but that's something we can't share.

According to the original series, metalbending works because the metal ISN'T pure- there's still small fragments of rock and other impurities in the metal that Toph could bend. That's why they can't bend "pure platinum."

Metal has impurities, aka rock inside that allows it to be bended. Apparently this platinum is pure enough to have no earth whatsoever inside.

Which would be economically retarded but I guess that's the price you pay when you're a rebel? Man that wall is probably worth more than the houses of everyone I know.

The wall probably isn't as thick as we think it is, but yeah. Spending so much money on that much platinum that only has literally a single use (trapping lin/korra/tenzin) is kinda dumb. Then again, he is the richest man in pretty much the entire world. They can probably break it down and make more of those suits anyway.

Maybe platinum is worth jack in their world.

I NEVER wake up that early. :/

Perhaps...depends on what it's used for i suppose? I guess we just have to assume money/quantity/demand for such a thing is a non-issue.

Only thing I don't like about my TV in canada is that I don't get CN or Nick. ;-;[/COLOR]

Well we do know that gold is valuable, from currency as well as those pirates in The Waterbending Scroll so it's not like the value of precious metals is completely messed up. Also, if it weren't precious it would have tons of applications since it's so inert.

I'm kind of surprised to see that they don't always have the foot portion open. Tracking movement and tunnels like that was one of the best advantages Toph had. I don't get why they would purposely take that away from themselves. I would think one of the first training exercises of a Metal-bending police officer would be to train your feet to be able to take harsh environments to take advantage of that ability.

If you watch the end of the Second Season of the original series, you see that Toph learns how to metal bend by detecting the small remaining fragments of earth within the metal, and bending that. If the metal is pure, it has no earth fragments remaining, and therefore unbendable ("You can't bend that girder, it's unbendable!").

Correct me if im wrong, but i think that the 1st time Aang LOST was when azula escaped mid-season two. I dont think they lost anything in season one!

The girl with the white hair died (the moon) because Aang wasn't capable of stopping the fire nation invasion to the north pole.

haha so I've heard x)

IIRC Aang triggered the avatar state under extreme stress and an emotional connection. So I figure the next time the avatar state would be activated for her would be somewhere close to having her bending taken away/someone close to her being almost dead/being killed. Or a defensive mechanism like with Aang and appa caught in the storm.

iirc we didn't see that part. In the show he did it when he saw the monk dead and when all the towers turned on. :o
