Seeing how they can bend sand, I wonder if its possible for Earth benders to turn any metal into a dust like form and use it like sand.

With these talks about wood and sand, it's only a matter of time before it turns into Naruto. :f6:

I tried not mentioning Gaara when I posted about the sand benders. Biggrin

Rolleyes Obviously, but considering there is an entire force of very organized police officers, I am sure that while that one or couple were chasing the criminal, they could send some people over later and fix it.

Speaking of wood, i'm surprised water benders haven't developed wood bending in the 80 years since the swamp and blood benders.

The problem with wood bending is trees are more stable than the vines that the water benders in the swamp used, so bending them would more than likely just break them. Even a thin branch would most likely just snap, as opposed to vines that can be moved freely.

I wanna see a branch off of Air bending. The only hinted at one would be Sound bending (I think Aang amplified the sound waves from his bison whistle when appa got appa-napped). Major problem being the fact that there currently only exists 4 air benders, including Tenzin and I don't think he'll be creating that anytime soon.

I do hope that people can learn bending through the original animals. Considering there is at least 1 herd of air bison left, there could be potentially more air benders. Lore is weird- It speaks of people learning to bend watching the original things that "bended" but then it also happens to be genetic now? I guess humans evolved to have the innate ability to bend and not bend (that being the only logical explanation).

I think it's basically a gene(or a group of genes), if you want to think of it that way. You either have the gene or not. Having it and knowing how to use it...two different things. Essentially people learned how to make use of the gene by watching the animals that were the original benders, and trying it out for themselves.

For all we know it took a long time for people to realize that bending was actually possible. Remember the Southern Air Temple in the original series? There were A LOT of Avatar statues in that temple. We have no idea how long it actually took for bending to become a widespread, known ability.

There's a murderer on the loose and you're going to stop for road repair. Really? Why not just avoid the entire problem and use the very well designed cables?

Also another problem with wood bending is that wood used for lumber has too little water left in it. I'm not exactly sure but most wood is dried so that it's at less than 10% humidity.

Did you not read what I wrote? I said that "considering there is an entire force of very organized police officers, I am sure that while that one or couple were chasing the criminal, they could send some people over later and fix it."

They clearly are using cables, but the discussion of whether or not they should use earth bending as well is because only using metal is pretty stupid when you have Equalists running around with electricity-shooting gloves... Although using earth bending could have some adverse effects on their surroundings, it could also be very effective.

That's where sand bending comes in. Excellent

EDIT: Can't wait for tomorrow's episode.

I mean, they're officially at war now so maybe they can afford to break the limits and allow earth to be bended.

Maybe they'll even allow earth deposits to be installed around the city for defensive purposes.

NOOO MY CABBAGE CORP.

I always knew that Hiroshi was evil, I mean who else could fund the equalists? Sadly, cabbage corps used as the scapegoat... I was surprised that Asami wasn't evil as well, but maybe it's all a plan to get close to the Avatar.

I love how everyone has a similar sob story.

A firebender killed mah parents when I was 8!
A firebender killed mah farmer parents and took mah face!
A firebender killed mah wife!

and why do I have a bad feeling that Lin is either going to die or lose her bending before this season ends?

Well, there's typical earth and metal bending from the metalbenders.

Korra and company seem to lose a lot.

The police seem inept: "Did we get electrocuted last time and the time before that?" "Yes, but this time could be totally different!" -Metal whips everywhere- *BZZZZZ*

It's starting to become a little predictable now...
