EA Spikes; Report South Korea's Nexon Makes Takeover Bid

Electronic Arts shares are trading higher Thursday morning on a report that apparently originated with a South Korean newspaper that said the South Korean game company Nexon has made a bid for EA.

The rumor has been passed along this morning via a Bloomberg video report, among other places.

Not a lot to go on here just yet, but EA shares are responding strongly to the rumor: the game maker’s shares have spiked $1.22, or 8.1%, to $16.23. The stock lately has been trading close to a 52-week low, as it continues to struggle through a transition to switch more of its business to digital distribution and away from the traditional shrink-wrapped console game market.

EA has a market cap of about $5 billion.

EA already ruined all their franchises so who cares. This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have read recently.

This just in: "Apple to buy Facebook. Google merges with Costco. Shits to magically fuse with fucks creating shitfucks."

Now all I have to do is become a "financial analyst" and tell the world why these buys/mergers will never happen. The creator of the rumor probably has investments in the company/ies and is attempting to make a quick buck. Or s/he wants to look better for pointing out obvious key points that the Operations Manager at Nexon, that one monkey with the darts, could pick out. (I'm not hating on Pachter as he didn't start the rumor).

If I had recommended someone to invest in Nexon shares, I'd create this rumor too. Then I wouldn't look like a complete tool while people spend their life savings on such a terrible company.

Whatever. Several of EAs major products are already on nexons model, except that they require you to buy the game as well as get nickel and dimed at every turn.

Nexon buys EA. Then Capcom buys Nexon and the circle of creed will be completed.
