The bills are stupid. However, the bit about gestational age is not an absurdity made up by Arizona lawmakers. It is in fact how pregnancy is discussed.

The bill that bothers me more is this one:

The other two bills passed by the House include the state's "wrongful birth, wrongful life" bill that prohibits lawsuits against doctors who do not provide information about a fetus' health if that information could lead to an abortion. In addition, parents cannot sue on the child's behalf after birth.

So basically, a doctor can do one of those pregnancy ultrasound or genetic testing things, see that the baby is suffering from any number of serious defects, tell the parents "everything is fine", and not get sued for malpractice? wtp is that?
If a doctor's conscience won't let them tell parents things that might cause them to abort the fetus, they should refuse to perform those tests to begin with. Performing them and then lying about the results is... I honestly have no words for it.

So... people higher up are projecting their own religious and moral beliefs on the law in Arizona?
