How was your day?
Throes Wrote:Some trials can go on for a month or even more at a time. If you work full-time, getting paid $40 a day might not be even half of what you get paid for a normal day's work. Federal law does not require employers to pay people their normal wage if they are selected for jury duty. People have bills to pay. There is nothing moronic about wanting to get back to work.

This is why I dislike the whole jury system. Left a really bad taste in my mouth. My experience was 10/12 jurors being dead-set on convicting a guy in a criminal case after a LOT of confusion regarding the interpretation of a certain law. They got tired of trying and just agreed to all vote guilty because of the nature of the case.

I do understand that missing even one day of work means a big loss in income for many; My dad is self-employed and my mom is a secretary. I don't know if I'm more bitter about those particular people in the jury accusing me of "having an agenda" or "word-smithing" for a whole week, or rather how the system forces people to weigh their own income against another's life, but I was referring to my own jury experience when I made that comment.

Regardless of my emotions on the subject, I am sincerely NOT trying to start an argument. This happened years ago, but I still get extremely anxious and sick thinking back on it.

OT: I'm starting to not like my government and nfp accounting teacher. He's beginning to sound like a stereotypical old, rich guy ("lol these conservation funds are wasting land we could be developing on").

Hi about to have a breakdown. I was benching on NYU Summer Housing for the past three months, but didn't actually apply because, well, I DIDN'T HAVE AN INTERNSHIP until a week ago. Now literally everything apartment-style is full except the shittiest building across the street from Manhattan Central Booking (lol), and a few dorms, which are apparently amazing (and I may end up living in), but GOD I never wanted to live in a dorm again for as long as I lived.

So I tried googling everything I could in finding an apartment and there's just nothing. Finding a furnished apartment in Midtown for short-term summer lease of rent $1400 or less is IMPOSSIBLE without actually being in the city itself to view places, and even then 99.9% IMPOSSIBLE because such combinations of options don't. exist.

In better news my Shakespeare T.A. just responded to my email from a week ago where I sent in a paper four days late saying no, I was actually two weeks early.

What.

So yay I'll have good grades but I'll be SHANKED IN NYC SO WHO GIVES A pomegranate.

Blegh, laid around all day being pissed off at my father. Typical day nontheless, not looking forward to work tomorrow. It's my last shift with my Manager before she leaves. Sad

When I said I wanted to know you better, I was talking about your personality. Not your nudes.

I've had the introductory class to all my classes now, they've basically told me to say farewell to my free time. This math course has 90% failure rate, and my physics course has 85%~ death rate (course is called Physics 120, and people refer to it as one-hundred and death (it rhymes in spanish)) and the physics lab reports take a lot of time. Then my programming class looks fun but we were warned that it needs A LOT of time and a lot of work, I also need to learn C coding. My other class seems like the easiest one, it's pretty much a logic class.
Oh I'm also taking Taekwondo because I had to pick a sport and it was the only one that fit my schedule nicely. First class on monday o.o

I think I'm digging myself into a hole that I don't necessarily want to be in. Curse my flirtatious nature, although I wasn't even really flirting, but just holding conversation.

Though getting asked to get some coffee may not be that big of a deal, but I should probably make it clear that I'm already somewhat seeing someone although he hasn't formally asked, and that we could definitely be friends.

Why is life difficult? Because I make it so.

Good day overall. Test tomorrow that I just started studying for, but it's a blowoff so heh.

Awful day today. About to go barhopping for the first time in my sheltered little life with two friends and a bunch of strangers. Don't know if I'm excited or not.

I'm not really a bar-type of person myself, but as long as you're with good company, it should be fun! Big Grin

Went to work, had my last closing shift with my close friend, went to her goodbye party and rode home with her. I fucking hate how I'm so emotional but I'm gonna miss her so much holy pineapple I hate this.

Knowing all day that I was going to be drinking, I probably should have eaten something. However, being drunk was what made this night totally worth it. Just sad that it's over so soon :< That and I'm deaf now. And also my bf bought us tickets to see Marina & The Diamonds in July??? Idek right now, I'm still loopy woo

This is why I love Spanish. I read it in my mind and oh my god I died.

I need to make 2 serious topics in Speakeasy. Not sure if I should make them now or space them out.

A little advice to myself:

"If you're gonna act like a doormat, don't complain when people start walking all over you"

One of these days I'll learn to take my own advice.
