GMS v107 - I'm not saying it's aliens...
PirateIzzy Wrote:Except you can't finish it because for one of the quests, the items don't drop.

Which item? I have already faced the large boar with no problem...
if you mean the barrier stones, you have to find them on the fairies and their drop rate is painfully low. Not as painful as peridots, but still pretty painful for the amount.

My feelings in a nutshell.

.. not like Ellin Forest is much better after the revamp and expansion. Tongue

Sadly the whole Maple is taking that path.

Maplestory is becoming far too straightforward and easy, nexon is trying to cater to younger and more impatient players these days over what things were like pre big bang.

It was fun knowing you.

Eh... I only ever liked Masteria for the potions, anyway. That's the only reason I ever cared for it to come to JMS. I mean, it was fun to explore NLC back in 2007, when it was released... but beyond that, I never went there without having to.

Also: Have we even seen the thing that was in the center of the four separate images put together? I don't recall seeing that at all.

I don't see why they couldn't just erase the Meso Gears maps. They've taken all monsters that used to be inside and put them in those poorly thought maps before the alien base.

Yeah, they won't even bother doing maps that aren't simply like this:

I mean look at the new maps they've made for NLC and compare that to Leafre's maps, Ludibrium, El Nath or even Ellinia/Victoria Island.

Also, I miss when finding maps was a challenge. Finding a Hidden-Street meant you had found a possibly better map to train. I remember the intricate ways maps had to be navigated to improve exp gain (think of Ludi maps, skelegons with Poison Mist, etc.).

Are you sure about that? I don't think Nexon changed here. I think you're getting older.

It was always a simple game, but you can't say that, for example, the change to LudiPQ didn't make it more brain-dumb. Before you actually needed to talk to other players to know what to do and you had to cooperate.

Meh, I wouldn't get so excited until I get to try it out.

Tried content out, it sucked balls. I hope this is an event and Masteria will return as it were.

I agree, lots of games today has been corrupted, take World of Warcraft as an example, pandas, like... pandas, really? And 'Looking for Raid', yeah I just quit that game asap.
Also I've been playing maplestory since 2005, but it could never be the way it was back then. Back then leveling took extremely long time and there were almost no features, making the game boring after a couple of months.
Adding over 10+ jobs hasn't fixed it. They should add what the players thinks are necessary, not every little crap they come up with on the dinner table.
At first I thought the name "Black Mage" was a joke, like, seriously, you couldn't come up with a better name of the main enemy?
And now since every can reach the damage cap without a problem let's just remove the cap?

My reactions to new jobs over the years:
2005 - 2007 => O.M.G. ANOTHER AWESOME UPDATE! (Have to wait like 12+ hours)
2008 => WOW! A new job!! I'm never quitting this game! Ever!
2009 => Wow, 5 new jobs! That's a lot, I wonder if I'll have the time to test them all... (Only tested 2 jobs at that time)
2009 => Another job? They just released 5 new jobs? Well, I guess I'll try that one too. (Got bored after like 5 days)
2010 => Finally a new job, took a full year...
2011 => Hm, three new jobs. Whatever.
2012 => Phantom will come soon, he's so OP, looks boring.

It's like the community of maplestory is slowly turning into a community full of douche-bags and 12 year olds wishing nothing else but to level and earn more and more money and power. It's not what it used to be.
But, again, it might just be nostalgia Biggrin.

This, this and this a thousand times.

My reaction while reading those mediocre poorly-written awkwardly-attempting-to-be-ironical quests which contain little to NO storyline at all and even fail at explaining in details what happened was DEEP disgust and disappointment.

Then I looked at the maps which replaced the old ones. Re-used and out-of-place map objects and ladders, wrongly placed portals, monotonous and plain boring design plus.. no sense. How could the old maps suddendly transform to those because of an earthquake? Even if they somehow explained that, I'd still prefer the old ones. They were different and that's what made them unique and nice. ANYONE with a WZ editor at hand can make these ones, speaking of how platforms are placed.

I don't even want to talk / remind myself about the TERRIBLE choice of deleting Prose's quests and removing Phantom Forest and Crimsonwood Keep's Jump Quest. Worst choice they could ever make.

I couldn't be more disgusted and disappointed. They just made a crappy area and RUINED Masteria, and, on top of that, they're even trying to milk money out of this with those stupid Alien Cubes.

I'm done putting ANY faith in Nexon America and their "great" ideas. Never. Again.

You know what? If they had to ruin it like that, it could have as well stayed as it was before. I've always said that I'd rather never get a Masteria expansion than have it ruined. Well, they did EXACTLY what I had hoped they wouldn't do. You'd think they'd release something decent after such a long time, but.. seems not.

Look, let's all just hope this is some sort of event and that aliens will be gone one day. Afterall, NLC can't stay destroyed forever................ right? Frown

This is just nexon's new way of being lazy, same with the Silent Crusade Quests.

It's funny though.

So much speculation and hype over this, even though it has been said thousands of times since Prose left: "Don't expect too much of anything that looks like Masteria content."

Sure, we got content, but this more like downgrade than upgrade.

Sewil Wrote:This is just nexon's new way of being lazy, same with the Silent Crusade Quests.

See, thing is, this isn't even being lazy.

They could have done absolutely nothing to any map beyond Haunted Mansion. There was nothing wrong with them. They didn't require any maintenance. It would have been zero effort to leave them untouched. This "expansion" only deals with the Krakian Jungle area.

Or, if for some reason they got an attack of efficiency and decided to save space in map.wz, it would have taken less effort to just delete everything beyond Haunted Mansion, and put CWKPQ in the dimensional mirror.

But no, they went to the effort of moving stuff around, redesigning maps, deleting quests... Admittedly not too much effort, but still, more than zero. And for what? Is that area playable now? Will anyone ever use those new maps?

For the same amount of effort, or less, they could have given Windraiders the same stats as the 3k exp aliens, and given BigFoot back his 10k touch, and thus got Phantom/Crimsonwood back to 99% of its old glory. People would put in the effort to get to Lower Ascent (and fight ks wars there, like in the old days), and shiver all the way for fear of BigFoot.

That is what's so painful and frustrating. This destruction was so uncalled for, so pointless, so purely malicious... somebody at Nexon America must hate Prose very, very, very much.

I can't believe you guys expected any less from nexon. They havent done much as of lately to change anything about their procedures besides blaming DDOS recently. The new system is what should have been originally done, content wise, it will always be sloppy dialogue and jaggy unfunctional quests, unless short and useless. Or so time consuming it's utterly ridiculous.

Exactly agree on everything. I feel exactly the same, and I think that the feeling is shared by most veterans who got much into Masteria's story. I find that that by destroying the town (and deleting his quests / maps) it's as if they destroyed most of Prose's hard work. And they basically did. All his great ideas.. shattered in pieces. Again, I really wonder how would he feel about that. I doubt he wouldn't care, as it looked like it was an area which required long thinking and thorough planning. Unlike this one. Tongue

Yeah, it almost feels as if there's a malicious note behind this.

Maybe, as Eos pointed out, he didn't actually leave himself. He must've done something wrong or maybe he just left because of the corruption and greediness that company was falling into. I wouldn't be surprised if he was very low paid, too. Not surprised a great guy like him got a good job at Square Enix, though.

In any case, they should've just acknowledged the town's greatness, left it as it was, and just expanded by ADDING more maps and leaving old stuff including quests untouched. This whole thing is just so frustrating and disturbing.. geez. Such an unique place.. ruined like that.

Another slap in the face to veterans. Another meaning to the Masteria troll panda.

Yeah. Because I really feel trolled.

I stopped putting faith in them in August, when they promised "exclusive content".
