Wanting to set things right, Future Bing sends the player back in time to stop the time machine from ever being created. This time, the player succeeds in stopping the time machine.

Allow me to remind you of your point and then restate that you were wrong:

It was very horribly put together, there were very huge gaps in between what little information you were given, the quests which related to the black mage were very randomly thrown about and came in no particular order, and I doubt they were put there for the sole purpose of setting the stage for all of these legend characters and the big war against the "black mage".

The now-existing storyline aspects are nice, sure, but it's not a NECESSARY part of the maple world. I can guarantee you most players didn't play for the quests back then, nor do they now. pre-third job it was about grinding until your fingers bled, trying to outlevel guildies and friends, PQing, JQing, and having fun with other players. Now it's about rushing to 160+ and soloing bosses with your ridiculously overpowered potential equips.

I actually completely agree with you on all of this (in fact, I said similar things in this thread), but none of this was what you originally said.

It was a hypothetical alternate future created by, I believe, Akyrum's power.
So yes and no.
Basically, it could be an alternate future but the events that would create it have never happened.

Basically, the plot was this (for anyone who may not know/remember):
Aliens have shown up and Bing luckily has created a suit to fight them, but the suit (absurdly, for the sake of the plot train) is designed to require a fuel that may theoretically exist in the future. So Bing gets the player to gather parts to create a time machine so we can go get this fuel. During this process, the player is impeded by the aliens, but succeeds in gathering all the parts, readying the time machine. Once the player goes to the future and gets the fuel, the suit is complete, and the player is sent off to fight the forces of the mother ship in the present. Of course, it turns out that the aliens were actually people from the future (Visitors) sent back because their world was fucked up after the player stole all their fuel. So, basically, the end result of the event was a new timeline that exists as a paradox.
Originally, there was a nice, stable loop thanks to circular causality (Visitors create need for time machine which creates need for Visitors, ad nauseam) which, due to its nature, should have been impossible to change.

I think the timeloop was destroyed though, because Bing has his memory wiped.
Pretty sure the MST3K mantra should have been the motto of the whole event.

Again, yes and no.

Like I said, in the original timeline, the emissaries from the future fail to stop the player from creating the time machine, and this allows the time loop to proceed forward.

Of course, when Future Bing eventually sends the player back, the player actually succeeds in stopping the creation of the time machine.

So this presents two opposite outcomes of the same event, meaning they can't possibly exist with the same reality.
Another thing to note is that the player may not have been among the emissaries who fail to stop the time machine's creation; they may have all simply been the poison-weakened residents of the future, which would explain why they succeed in the second reality (since the player, being from the present, is supposed to be much stronger).

Yeah, the time loop definitely gets destroyed.
I was just saying that this shouldn't have been possible since, being a loop, every event is required for the next.

I think the black hole generators Future Bing gives you were supposed to act as an anti-paradox device though.
Of course, assuming the existence of such a McGuffin, Future Bing could have broken the time loop by breaking any one of the events in it, including stopping himself from sending the Visitors back in time in the first place.

A pre-patcher can be made as soon as Nexon uploads the patch to their servers. They normally do that 1 day to a few hours before the actual patching starts. So no, no pre-patcher now.

something interesting though, for all we know, the fake future was created by akyrum, who DOES have the ability to travel through time, according to the story posted on nexon's website. wouldn't be far-fetched to say he could make a fake or "distorted" future, or grab one of the branches in which the future may become.

but yea, seems to be a completely fabricated thing, which is why it kind of makes me sad, since nexon would probably have to pull something out of it's sleeve to expand it.

...inb4 that's the actual future, some places are now covered in poisonous shrouds due to evilness or whatever, and that's why the visitors had those equips, and went the first visitor event came, we went to that part of the future world map.

There was a Maple Story about it, IIRC.
Akyrum was the leader of the person who did it.
Pretty sure it mentioned something about the Black Wings invading the Temple of Time and putting a dreamworld up to disguise it.

it's what i'm trying to remember, i can't remember how the story progressed, afaik you needed the crystanol to be able to make the bing suit, you didn't have it before that

I think we needed it to upgrade to the nice shiny Visitor suits. Bing might have had a limited quantity and used it to make the Bing suits so he could tap the reserves of the future. I think that might be what the Diving and Mining missions were for.

part 1: do quests at base to get coins for mount
part 2:, you do future quest, get bing suit afterwards, kill aliens with it and complete the "kill X aliens" quest, get coins for upgrades
part 3: crashed spaceship PQ
part 4: future bing "back in time" quests.
