First off, that's not relevant at all.
Second, that's not how you use it. It's supposed to be a one-liner.
Like this:

or this:
Anyhow, attempting to steer this back on course.
This is feeling more and more like it's going to be absolutely terrible.
Sub-par video, and the 4 clues that we've gotten all seem to point to an incredibly generic storyline.
I'm really just getting a bad feeling about it.

If this does indeed come out the 14th, I probably won't even bother checking it out. I'll be too busy playing Tales of Graces F. booyeah.

I even did a YT video on it when it was first revealed.
It was really weird, always made me wonder what it was going to be for. I think I remember watching your YouTube video about it years ago, come to think of it.

I disagree.
I've said this countless times. There's nothing wrong with post big bang maplestory, Majority of the changes was better that including the story. The greatest downside to maplestory now is the community and the sheer laziness in exlcusive and working content we have encountered from NexonNA since big bang.

Reasonable people don't complain about new content not being sufficiently rationalized because they have not only accepted that that's simply how it has to be but also that, with a series running for so long, it's literally impossible to anticipate what ideas might come in order to pre-plan the entire continuity

Because I'm not sure we're playing the same game.

If Maple's story were so good, IsaacGS' thread would have been unnecessary.
A large portion of any story's merit can be weighed by its presentation, and Masteria rolls out its story about as well as an non-fluent stutterer wearing a ski mask.
Nexon has actually gotten better about this over the years, avoiding the ridiculously long blocks of text, but I still bet that most of the people who've done the Future Ereve quests still don't know that that entire world is nothing more than a dream. Why? Because plenty of players don't give a pomegranate about the story.

The Black Mage story has existed at least as early as the release of pirates (there may be earlier instances, but this is the one I specifically remember).
The entire explanation for their return was to warn people that the Black Mage was being revived.

I'm really just getting a bad feeling about it. To be fair, when has Maplestory not had a generic storyline?
The closest they've gotten to original was the Visitors event, but that required them to ignore basically all theories on how time works.

Well, to be fair, you have to get decently far into the storyline and/or find a Dream Fragment, and even then it's not actually confirmed until you defeat Cygnus.

No, the Visitors was a stable time loop as well as I remember. We're just lacking the huge catastrophe that makes the world nigh-uninhabitable.

Because in the original time line, Maplers overfarmed the Crystanol, but Bing's actions prevented this. So instead the Aliens rob this timeline of Crystanol, which causes a different Bing to come back and stop them!
Thus justifying VPQ 2. Recolor the mobs and we're set!

No, we only ever got Crystanol from the Destroyed Future, iirc.
That was what that JQ was for.
Future Bing came back to stop himself from finding something out, right?
Oh, damn, that makes the timeloop unstable, doesn't it?
F'uck. Forget what I said about the Visitor event being a stable time loop then.

Why are people still insisting it's the Visitors when NEXON themselves said that the Visitors had NOTHING to do with Masteria. Plus the future we went to was not destroyed in the Visitor styoryline and it was Henesys. The air was toxic thus they had to live in Domes. There was nothing about an apocalypse, just toxic air forcing everyone to wear those suits and live in domes.

Okay, sure, the game did have a very thinly made storyline that was randomly thrown together in bits and pieces. If I recall the biggest chunks of information were in the magatia quests. But my point still stands. It was very horribly put together, there were very huge gaps in between what little information you were given, the quests which related to the black mage were very randomly thrown about and came in no particular order, and I doubt they were put there for the sole purpose of setting the stage for all of these legend characters and the big war against the "black mage".
The now-existing storyline aspects are nice, sure, but it's not a NECESSARY part of the maple world. I can guarantee you most players didn't play for the quests back then, nor do they now. pre-third job it was about grinding until your fingers bled, trying to outlevel guildies and friends, PQing, JQing, and having fun with other players. Now it's about rushing to 160+ and soloing bosses with your ridiculously overpowered potential equips. The social aspect is gone, and the only decent players left tend to huddle in a corner amongst themselves. If they can even log on to play the damn thing.

If you actually look at the thread, we're not saying that this is Visitors.
At least not seriously.

"Visitors" coming back in time caused the future to change. no more toxic air or domes. instead greys and kittens got caught in the blender and caused the a new super villain to emerge after murdering it's owner the kitten studied time travel and found doctor bling's notes. The Kitten/grey kidnaps Bling and bling states that foxwit is much more of a time traveller than he will ever be. So the kitten/grey uses blings technology to take him to foxwit.
Whilst hovering above NLC the kitten/grey accidently presses the destroy city button and everyone in NLC dies.

F'uck. Forget what I said about the Visitor event being a stable time loop then. Yeah, I was gonna say that it couldn't have been a stable loop since then our actions wouldn't have accomplished anything.
Basically, the plot was this (for anyone who may not know/remember):
Aliens have shown up and Bing luckily has created a suit to fight them, but the suit (absurdly, for the sake of the plot train) is designed to require a fuel that may theoretically exist in the future. So Bing gets the player to gather parts to create a time machine so we can go get this fuel. During this process, the player is impeded by the aliens, but succeeds in gathering all the parts, readying the time machine. Once the player goes to the future and gets the fuel, the suit is complete, and the player is sent off to fight the forces of the mother ship in the present. Of course, it turns out that the aliens were actually people from the future (Visitors) sent back because their world was fucked up after the player stole all their fuel. Wanting to set things right, Future Bing sends the player back in time to stop the time machine from ever being created. This time, the player succeeds in stopping the time machine.
So, basically, the end result of the event was a new timeline that exists as a paradox.
Originally, there was a nice, stable loop thanks to circular causality (Visitors create need for time machine which creates need for Visitors, ad nauseam) which, due to its nature, should have been impossible to change.
SwordStaker Wrote:Why are people still insisting it's the Visitors when NEXON themselves said that the Visitors had NOTHING to do with Masteria. While it wouldn't surprise me if they reused assets from the Visitor event, I, too, doubt that Nexon would directly connect this content to a one time event that happened almost two years ago.
That sounds like a really good way to alienate (no pun intended) all the players who weren't around for it.
That said, history should have taught us by now that just because something was once true doesn't mean it will always be true.
Yes, the Visitors event had nothing to do with Masteria, but that doesn't preclude them from connecting its fiction to Masteria in a future update.
