Masteria Preview?
whybanme Wrote:I hope Slip updates that thread with this stuff.

On it right now. Let me clean it up and reformat it while I'm at it.

Edit: Waiting on Eos to raise the character limit before I can edit the post.

Dev is always done in Korea. That doesn't make it foolproof.
Remember Cake vs. Pie 2?
Remember the absurd design which had attackers using their real damage but defenders hitting fixed damage? Remember how defenders could do absolutely nothing if attackers had enough firepower to destroy the barricade without using summons?
Remember the implementation bugs which mishandled ties and wouldn't give out rewards to those rooms where defenders won (i.e., battle lasted 'til time ran out)?

Korea has designers who know the game well, programmers who implement what they're told to, and Tespia to iron out the coding bugs.
America has designers who might have imagination but seem unaware of game realities (like the realities of cramming hundreds of people in one map, or of infinitely-spawning aliens leaving no room for normal mobs to spawn), programmers (in Korea) who implement what they're told to, and no Tespia for "exclusive content".

Hopefully things will get patched in time to be playable.

"OHP SOME POOR MAPLER FINALLY DECIDED TO STEP THROUGH TO ANOTHER AREA...AND DISCOVERED A NEW CITY!" is basically how we're handling it now.
I'd even prefer it to be something dumb like "Until recently there had been a barrier surrounding this area, which no one could pass. But do to recent scientific advancements..." or somepomegranate.
I really don't see how those examples are any different.
Why wasn't the barrier mentioned before now?

Do you peach every time a new Pokemon generation comes out?
Because I know for a fact that they never explain how hundreds of species could have been completely unaccounted for for so long.

Luxeraph Wrote:I think its because we're not actually adventurers/explorers but mercenaries (have you ever done a quests without getting paid?), but since that sounds bad they don't use it and thus we just go to places that got clients (NPCs).
I'm sorry, but how exactly are you distinguishing between an adventurer, an explorer, and a mercenary?

I'm actually sad that I never knew about that until after-the-fact.
Would have been fun to crash my client repeatedly.

Did Combattente's rambling poison your brain?
Of course the development was done in Korea.
ALL development is done in Korea.

That would be when it came out.
Also known as the last time GMS developed anything.

Besides the obvious, you can tell its fake by the lack of Buy NX today notice at the end

Also, 10-8=2. The amount of months that it stayed GMS exclusive.

That's a troll thread.

Yeah, but in terms of your usual troll thread it was above average lol. But when I got to the 5x exp part (no i didn't read it all just skimmed quickly) I did a real life F7. And I really hope they aren't gonna just revamp VPQ, this seems like way more than that.

All this hype for 1 revamped PQ?
They wouldn't
Would they!?

Yes I'm being sarcastic.

I'm still getting an "event" vibe from all this. Perhaps NLC getting destroyed, but no new maps. Just destruction on the current ones.

Would be boring. I want a new area.

I miss that map Sad
Had its own eery feeling, because there was no music whatsoever.
I even did a YT video on it when it was first revealed.

Remember that is the 1st part of Masteria revamp, so expect new brand areas...

Mentioning a barrier after the fact is still better than "OMG GUIZE A NEW AREA HAS JUST MAGICALLY APPEARED INTO THIN AIR"

And yes, actually, I do have a problem with new Pokemon generations. I'm sure most Pokemon fans have mentioned at least once in their lifetime how they find it funny how new Pokemon just magically appear; especially with respect to the baby Pokemon. Pokemon is hilariously flawed in many ways concerning its continuity and storyline, but who gives a damn? It's fun. Maple kind of NEEDS a story for it to be respectably fun.
There's a reason IsaacGS' story thread got so much attention. The story in Maple is one of the only good things these days.

And for your thesaurus link: synonyms don't always mean the exact same thing. They could have a similar concept, or mean something similar, but one will always be better used in certain contexts.

And how exactly does maple need a story to be fun? Maplestory pre-big bang never had a story in any sense of the word and I found it to be many times more fun than the maple of now that DOES have some form of half-assed piece of crap story.

I'm saying NOW Maple kind of needs its story to cling to the little it has left. With how terrible the game is right now, story is really all it has left. And if it can't even do that, what good is it? Way back when I didn't give a pomegranate about story. I skipped every word everyone said ever and just did their quests for no god damn reason. But now that it takes 2 seconds to get to level 200 I'd much rather play it for the story than for the leveling.

Actually a lot of the basic information about the Black Mage and his story existed prior to Big Bang. It's just that most people didn't do quests and thus never read the quest dialog in which you were told about it. Throw in the fact that it was hard to connect the dots since you were told only bits and pieces in between all the filler quest noise and thus few people actually knew the story and few too would have know about it if Isaac hadn't posted that thread.

Masteria was supposed to be getting a revamp? I thought they were just going to adjust CWKPQ so it was harder...
