Masteria Preview?
Didnt the badge exchange give GM sword scrolls instead of 10%s?

I don't think any MMORPG pulls a plot to explain how every new area they release wasn't accesible before their update. In the end what really matters is the story that depevops inside that area. (Best example: Magatia)

dragon nest kind of has done a good job about it so far.

but as the map starts getting bigger, well, there's only so much, if they had planned the entire world from the start, at some point it would reach the end and that'd be it, otherwise you'd have to take the "islands" path where it's several worlds/islands/continents and such, for every new expansion, since you know every nook and cranny of a place.

say, von leon castle for example, that was a nice addition, hidden in the mountains and protected by some blizzard i think it was? and you couldn't go there until someone told you about it.

i see each new patch as "hey, i heard someone ventured even further in X direction, and found cool stuff, let's all go!"
...which is why it pisses me when people ask "how do i get X new stuff they asked for <derp>" dunno man, INVESTIGATE/EXPLORE.

It was never supposed to give gm scrolls.

It's just stuff that they import from other version that they seem to screw up all the time. Aside from the expected bugginess that comes with this, I'm looking forward to a nice expansion, especially if they've been planning it out since NLC.

As if Masteria/NLC hadn't come full of bugs and problems upon release.

Yeah, until they removed the GM ones from the list of rewards.

Just saying it isnt glitch/bug free. Unless I have my facts wrong.

LOL
You want to talk about bugs in Masteria? BigFoot.
You want to talk about horribly mishandled, recurring bugs in Masteria? BigFoot again.
You want to talk about design flaws in Masteria? The original boomers come to mind.

Obviously it was never perfect. Nexon can't do anything perfectly. But it was fun and reasonably original.
Hopefully this new addition is actually part of the Masteria storyline, and not a tacked-on event that could have been put anywhere.

+ not forgetting that one Badlands map or whatever? Where you used Mystic Door in the Subway and got trapped in an inescapable map unless you were able to Door back out again or die. Masteria was full of bugs.

The thing about the expansions is that sometimes, it's like a couple maps after those maps.

Person: Hmm, this place seems far enough to go, even though I see some extremely rare and unique creatures in that map to the left.

Still voting Boomers for "best design oversight in recent history"

I'd say the Dr Jekyl and Mr Hyde game is the definition of "design oversight," if you're going for ~23 years as "recent history." Big Grin

Nexon's been far from perfect with Masteria.

boomers... boomers...

didn't those things summon themselves as one of their skills?

If you damaged them below half of their HP they summoned either one or two more Boomers, which meant if a Fire/Poison mage used Mist in a mob, they'd duplicate infinitely. It was hilarious.

They still summon, but there's a limit to how many can be summoned. Duplicated Boomers cannot duplicate themselves, and regular Boomers only summon until the map is full.

It was still an epic fuckup. That being said, I expect (hope) for less issues with this one. I have a feeling dev was done in Korea, so things should be a bit better.

Actual content creation is always done in Korea. With the original Masteria, NexonAM contributed the ideas/story.

I was under the impression that NexAM was involved in dev as well (just for NLC)? Back when Prose was still a part of it all. Though he was only a designer, I recall him saying something about it being locally designed and programmed with assistance from Korea. Maybe my memory is lacking. In any case, this new content will definitely be Korea.

I always though every "exclusive content" was programmed and prepared by the company related to the zone but under nexonkr supervision

also who made this firetusk sketch? or it was some joke? because I cant find any info about it(even the image itself is dead) and it was on the thread I've posted

That's an early sketch by NxProse, if I'm not mistaken.

And no, it's not always the case. For example, Amoria was dev'd in Korea. NexAM doesn't actually have enough (or possibly any) MapleStory developers. Back when Prose was around, I thought there were a few. But they don't seem to be around anymore. They do have developers for their social games (Facebook), though.
