In all these years I have played Maple, I will never understand.
a. Why it takes 4hours to change the clock.
b. Why it can't wait til the next SC.

Hurt

Starts at 1AM -> 2:00am, which then becomes 3:00am -> 6am. Four hours.

I kept thinking DST is applied at 12AM; seeing how DST doesn't apply until 2AM, the notice makes sense now...

a. That's actually a decent amount of time for a DST change. There's a lot of pomegranate that can (and has in the past) gone wrong.
b. Servers & Databases don't like it when time suddenly goes backwards. They don't like it at all.

I wonder if this maintenance will put maple back in sync again, things have tended to be a bit late recently (Bosses spawning, hot time rewards etc etc)

Yet we also do it when the clocks go forward, which honestly shouldn't matter near as much to most things, since it's just an hour gap between events, but in the context of a game it gets upset when the delay between actions as simple as moving was suddenly a full hour. Kinda freaks it out.

I should be locking the forum for a fall back or we'll get weird posts that involve replies to having occurred before the thread itself, but meh.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

Someone explain to me on what Eos said would happen.
The time goes forward 1 hour, not back 1 so I don't see how replies would have occurred before the thread was made.

Which is why I specifically said "for a fall back". Pay attention to context.

I don't even know why I wrote going backwards, I seriously need more sleep.

But yeah, I think the shutdown is just more of a precautionary measure in this case, it's not like anything could overlap, but like you said... it may start freaking out. Better safe than sorry, especially with Nexon.

Isn't that the fun part though?
What if I wanted replies to my thread before I actually posted it? Then I would know if its worth my time to post the thread.

Also, reminded me of the Foamy episode "Yesterday Mail"

Why are you comparing Nexon and Blizzard.
It's like comparing Quail Ridge, North Carolina to Abu Dhabi.

I prefer the Amytville Toaster.

Personally I'd say run the server on a TZ that doesn't observe DST - the translation function to go from those into DST timezones for display obviously exists.

Course, Nexon's servers are all in PST/PDT. But they shouldn't be.

They could all run in UTC but alas, rarely do.
