Hybrid?

Would it be possible to do a Gunslinger to level faster in 1st job, but advance as a brawler? Similar to a thief's sindit. Sorry if its illogical, im just curious as im not too sure as to the build of pirates yet.

don't brawlers still use the punch and somersault in second job? if so... you can't... not enough points o.o
another thing... gun users level faster? not necessarily... if you have a high str low lvl all job weapon... you can level pretty fast with somersault and that

me being gun user used flag and somersault lvl 1 for 2 full levels because it was doing a lot more damage =b

Well it's not necessarily illogical, but it is something I haven't heard of or thought of. I cannot think of any reasons off the top of my head why it wouldn't be faster if the player didn't have means of making flash fist or somersault kick stronger than double shot. Plus double shot is a lot more fun than flash fist (to me at least). In the end, it doesn't really make a difference. Double uppercut easily replaces flash fist, and both backspin blow and corkscrew blow are stronger than somersault kick.

Good idea, but it fails in practice.
Flash fist + Somersault Kick use str as main dmg modifier.
Double shot uses dex. So you would either have horrible double shot damage all throughout first job, or great double shot dmg and horribly high dex for 2nd job on.

oh yeah forgot about that... i think that's THE MAIN reason it won't work...

unlike thief class where BOTH subclasses use LUK as main skill and DEX as secondary

I could see using Somersault Kick to level in 1st job and advancing as a Gunslinger, but that's about it. Somersault Kick does great damage compared to Double Shot at lower levels (I think it's based on your damage range, regardless of weapon), and training in CFD by spamming a mob skill is awesome. The only problem is that it would limit your build. You'd have to leave Dash at 1, or Bullet Time at 11.

The build would look like this:
10: SK
11: 3 SK
12: 3 SK
13: 3 SK
14: 3 SK
15: 3 SK
16: 3 SK
17: 1 SK (max), 2 DS
18: 3 DS
19: 3 DS
20: 3 DS
21: 3 DS
22: 3 DS
23: 3 DS (max)
24: 3 BT
25: 3 BT
26: 3 BT
27-30: 2 BT, 10 free points

I don't see any alternatives for Brawlers. Isn't spamming SK with a Fish Spear fast enough?

Very illogical. Just Stat wise alone, it makes no sense

I don't think it would work, because of the stat builds and because that S.Kick is a mob skill and all of the lower level areas are amazingly mobby. not to mention that DS only does 80%/bullet while you can hit an entire mob for a lot more with S.Kick. CFD and Masks would be the way to go I'd think, but I haven't tried a brawler yet but I'd assume that it would be like any other class where mobbing= faster exp.
