Dear Maplers,

We will be performing an unscheduled maintenance on our prepaid card redemption system beginning on Thursday, March 8. This maintenance is scheduled to last for four hours. Unfortunately, you wont be able redeem your prepaid cards during that time.

Pacific: 10:00 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2012 2:00 AM on Friday, March 9, 2012
Eastern: 1:00 AM 5:00 AM on Friday, March 9, 2012

-How This Affects You-

• You will be unable to redeem your Nexon Game Cards and Karma Koin cards.
  

-Changes and Updates-

• Address recent DDoS (denial-of-service) attacks.
  
• Put systems in place to prevent future DDoS attacks.

They would put an Anti-DDOS system in place for Prepaid Card system only, unless the anti-ddos software prevents all the other servers from being attacked.

Unsurprisingly, their primary concern is DDoS against their revenue-generating system.

Can you really blame them though for making sure to protect a system in which they get a lot of their income from?

Keep in mind two things before detracting based on this;

1) Attacks against their card redemption system have to go through the same primary router as all their games, so bogging it down bogs them down too.
2) If hackers were pissed off at Nexon and truly attacking them they'd go for the way nexon actually makes money, not the individual games, so this does sort of make sense.

Right.....now if only you didn't say that every. single. time. there's been something "done" to address the issues, I might believe you, slightly.

I kind of wish someone would at this point.

I read "gaming" as "gambling" for a minute there, but given the items that account for probably 90% of Nexon's Maple revenue both work. Also, I find it funny that this notice is more apologetic that those 12 hour USCs that kept getting extended.

considering the card redemption system has "error'd" me out of my NX 3 times total, they better be fixing something.
