More EE hacked weapons gone
Amusing thread you've got here.

People who bought hacked weapons took a risk and it backfired. I know 2 or 3 people who lost weapons said "Oh darn" and moved on because they knew this was a likely possibility. They did not cry; they did not ask for compensation. This is how others should act. Ignorance is not an excuse.
Reply
The compensation is not having all their idiotic accounts banned for possessing those weapons. Everyone who used them should feel lucky as hell on that point alone.

I agree and people still think they should be giving more for breaking the rules of the game. I mean good luck having that logic in real life. Just go try telling the judge/jury to compensate you if you break the law.

Vanderlust Wrote:Your analogy doesn't work for that reason. Marijuana is almost universally frowned upon by society and the laws in place against it are actually enforced. Hacked weapons have been running around unpunished for so long that you can not fault players who cave in in the same way. A slightly better (but still bad) analogy is jay walking. It's illegal, because it can cause serious accidents/harm but that law is never enforced. Because of that, nobody frowns on jaywalking, and most people will jaywalk without giving a second thought because it's the norm.

I think the even better analogy is a Government run Liquor Store stocking and selling bootleg liquor knowingly for years and making a profit, then finally getting off their asses and eliminating all of it and offering no compensation.

It works on some levels, but not so well because Liquor is usually consumed readily and not stored for years, so only the recent buyers care. But I guess that still holds true, because anyone who purchased a weapon a year ago, probably got much more than their paid price in use out of it.

The slow take to action by Nexon is what is despicable, because allowing it to go on for so long in the MTS only profited them. I THINK that's the point LoveVictim wanted to get across?

Anyway, it's a good step in the right direction, if only it wasn't taken so late.

Why do people say it is impossible to start over in this game? I just started over in Nova a few months back with a handful of friends and now we control it, while its nothing like Scania the principal is the same it is very easy to become "average" in this game if you don't waste time merching gfa 60s like every1 and their mother does and you will be ok.

- You got knowledge about this game
- You got experience first hand
- Most importantly, you got connections.

I think the right statement should be "it's impossible for someone totally new to the game to get started in it without spending real money on either NX or mesos". As one of the possible reasons to this: just why would a new player bother to try progressing in this game if he realizes it's current state? He'd be better off spending his time in another game in better conditions.

And btw guys, it seems to me many of you are declaring dupping as the main reason to the game's spoil which i think is wrong. In my opinion there are 3, the massive influx of mesos into the economy from many sources (including Nexon itself), the fact the game has 2 currencys with NX being the most stable and every day more necessary, and of course dupping for the reasons previously stated here.

Here's a better analogy, I get these guys all the time;

"What do you mean this is sales and use taxable! I didn't know!" Blatently been doing it for years, advertised in coupon books, on billboards, and every other form of advertisement. When the field auditors come, "Well you didn't stop me sooner so why do I owe this much!" isn't going to stop the collections unit from taking your life over the 1 million you possibly owe in x amount of years. Sure you can do a bankruptcy settlement if you can, depends on the circumstances, or do a negotiation but it won't be in your favor I assure you.

Anyway, what is the problem with these duped items that aren't "impossible to make"?

Simple: New players can't get them, except by buying them from old players.

There is no way to get raccoon masks, accessory atk scrolls, and enough chaos scrolls to scroll a 30 atk mask. As for the VSS - there is no way to get shoe atk scrolls period. Gach all you want, you'll never get the 90 scrolls + 90 WS to make a 27 att VSS, because you'll never get the first 10% shoe atk.

So what this means is existing players have an inherent advantage in the market: they own useful items, and the new players can't get them on their own. The price can be anywhere: if you don't have the money, you're inferior forever.

Contrast this with the natural 'difficult to obtain' items like a CHTP + Egg, or a Rising Sun set:
If every player on a server was wiped (or just quit) new players could get these items. It would be more difficult - but it's an attainable goal.

'hard to get' and 'impossible to get' completely change the opportunities of new players: A game can have some impossible items (rewards for longtime participation) but if every one of the best equips is one of them, who's gonna want to join the game?

I personally find those types of items a luxury. They are not a necessity to play this game, they just make it easier to do some things, namely hard bosses.

While I'm not saying finding 90 of the scrolls is likely, if I remember correctly ninja castle mobs do drop those scrolls.

You remember incorrectly.
They were only obtainable from an old Christmas event, at a very low rate.
A rate so low that 90 10%s probably wouldn't have existed in all of GMS without duping.

I thought mystery scrolls have a chance to give shoe attack.

No, KMS do not even have those scrolls at all so no KMS made content or event have/give them. Shoe attack scrolls came from a GMS Christmas event and only from there, the same event that gave those ugly socks. It was so rare that not a single perfect shoe could have been scrolled without dupes.
