More EE hacked weapons gone
Vek Wrote:I agree with you on some level, but this has been around too long and become too widespread to warrant a carpet-bomb-style perm ban on anyone who owns or has owned one. If this was nipped in the bud, well before everyone and their maple-grandma had one, then sure, hammer away.

On the other hand, I do wish Nexon enforced some kind of negative consequence that showcased their anti-hacker policy, since right now they seem like they just don't care. I believe that Nexon should be more willing to temp ban a month or even a week for these kinds of offenses. With temp bans, none of the time, effort, or money put into your character(s) is really lost and noone has to play appeal-ban lottery, clogging the already backlogged system. Another good thing about temp bans is that it won't make hacking a one-way road. Instead, it says, "You did wrong. Here's your punishment. You can come back and try to play things straight after it's over." The only issue I can think of with temp banning is cash item expiration, but Nexon has already shown they can extend these timers.

I agree with most of what you said, except the part about extending people's cs items if they get a 30-day ban. Nexon should give everyone who has a hacked weapon a month temp ban at the least, while permabanning the sellers. I know they are incompetent when it comes to banning people and most dupers have numerous accounts, but most of this thread is wishful thinking anyways...

If people are rightfully banned for owning hacked gear, they shouldn't get their cs items extended. It was their choice to break the ToS and the garbage excuse that they were ignorant of their crime doesn't work anymore. I'm sure that in almost every server people are smegaing hacked items and when you have weapons popping up whose stats are ridiculously higher than everything else and also are being sold for lots of money, that is probably a good indication that they shouldn't buy said gear. If they are really that ignorant, then they need to get out of la-la land really fast and come to terms with reality and the current state of this game.

They should, at the least, permaban anyone who sold more than 5 in the MTS. 1 is excusable perhaps, 20-30 are not.

They perma'd at least 1 person like that, not sure exactly how many since I only know 1 of them. It's a start at least but IF I was selling duped stuff in mts, I would put it on a mule and transfer the nx somewhere safe. I wouldn't care about the tax because essentially i'm stealing the money anyways. So unless they can track money like that [which they may or may not be able to but i don't think they'd go through the trouble], they'll continue to sell that stuff in mts.

I still think they could do what they did with chaos scrolls and say NPC the items by a certain date or face the consequences. But periodically deleting the majority of them also helps as a deterrent. I definitely agree with Stereo they should go after the sellers, though they must be a good source of income for Nexon. I can imagine a good number of people would have charged NX just to buy those items in the MTS… Deleting the weapons still leaves Nexon with all the NX for charging and tax.

I love how quickly these threads devolve into a moral dilemma about whether or not people should be using items that weren't created/distributed though legitimate means. I'm still waiting for someone to draw direct causation as to how players who use these items are being directly detrimental to players who don't use them, though.

Maybe if you were to actually read the thread, and thoroughly, you'd know the answer to that question.

@postbelowmine; LOL. Man, am I glad I'm done dealing with this piece of pomegranate community. Tera can't come fast enough.

>Hime is the law

Lolk. Scrolls obtained through illegit means does not make the equips legit. Get a clue and try reading the thread.

Why would I wanna read a thread filled with faggots like you? I never said Hime was the law, but she is a spokesperson for Nexon and everytime she's made announcements regarding things like this, she's been right. Jussayin!

1) There's a thread dedicated to hime quotes. So this is bulls'hit.
2) There's a Nexon forum function that shows all hime posts. So this is bulls'hit.

The only legitimate concern I've seen is people having complaints about reselling items competing with dupes, specifically VL weapons. Even so, most of the equip enhance weapons are gone and I imagine most people aren't willing to gamble and lose a second time.

Claiming that you are too cool for us should not be an excuse for your ignorance. Hime rarely knows what's going on. She merely is a PR for Nexon and they hardly tell her jack.

Although if you want to fall back on insults and ignore my point about duped scrolls yielding illegit equips, that's fine with me.

Then you may need to redefine your definition of legitimate and read this thread. Also the thread about how Empress is now fixed in KMS brings up some good points.

Haha! More than one it seems now. It's an army. They've bought their tl:dr faction and they're loading their guns with ad-hominem bullets. Run for your lives!

That's okay, I really didn't expect a more thorough response than to go look back at the thread and/or changing my world view. I was really hoping you'd connect the dots between a definition of legitimate and Maplestory elitism, but I guess that's too much to ask for. At the end of the day, Maplestory's a PvE game and I don't see how other players being more effective at killing monsters is a detriment to your gameplay experience.

How about you try and connect the dots?

Or have you forgotten that because everyone is strong as f'uck because of duped everything that literally every single boss isn't profitable at all for a group larger than 2-3 people? That training isn't worth doing because the goal of 200 has become diluted and bosses aren't worth doing? That upgrading past a very specific and low standard has become nothing more than shoving NX up nexon's ass hole?

A PvE game does not at all mean that other people do not affect you and how you got to 200 without knowing that baffles me.

Now we're getting somewhere.

I don't think it's fair to say that duping singlehandedly made bossing not a profitable endeavor for groups of people, or even that that's a considerable factor. That level 200 bit sounds more like a personal problem of motivation and reason for playing than the state of the game's economy. I really like that upgrading bit, though, considering that these duped items are a considerably cheaper form of upgrading than any other medium, when the financial investment seems to be your concern.

My personal favorite, though, is that ad hominem bit about me being level 200. I was under the impression Southperry as a community was above such things.

Honestly, I don't see why it's so hard for you guys to either spell out why this duping is the root of all evil or admit that there's little or no logical causation between duping and your grievances with the game, aside from the duping itself being morally offensive.

...Uh, dude, what else is there? Sure big bang made bosses easier, but the problem you fail to see is, duping completely wiped out any tier. It's become a "must purchase" market. Duping by itself destroyed anything the game has to offer clean. There is no way a legitimate player could even bother to compete with the conditions the game has put on the table.

If you look at the tree, yeah you're right, ez upgrading, no problem. But look at the forest, maplestory is a game that's business model is refreshing players, not keeping them. How the hell are new players going to stay when they can't legitimately make the amount of money required to do the necessary upgrades to even attempt these bosses, let alone be acceptable in our community.

It already was;

sarah Wrote:Within the game there exist tiers of equipment: common, uncommon and rare. When duping exists, rare equipment becomes plentiful. The other two tiers become useless. That may seem like a good thing at a glance but in reality, it has three major harmful effects on the game. The first being that it removes one of the major points of the game: using the strength you've previously gained to continue improving your character through the (sometimes dreadful but necessary) act of farming. Beyond that, if you can have an unlimited number of that item, the act of scrolling becomes a joke. Seems like a good thing but it is a large part of the game.

So simply duping your equipment removes two vital parts of the gaming experience, whether you enjoy them or not.

The final effect lies in the market. Duping does and has destroyed the economy beyond repair. It's not just limited to those big items. When everything is plentiful then everything is worthless. There may as well be no market.

Just because it's somewhat beneficial to you or other players doesn't mean it's not a blight on the game.

Hmm so let's take a simple realistic example: a 100 attack claw (a craven, for clarity) (no GMs were used) is worth about 1 bil/20k nx. All of a sudden that claw becomes duped by the thousands and so abundant that it's worth is now a mere 1k NX. So duping has no effect on economy?

The point here is that duping devalues everything that's supposed to be valuable, thereby making it difficult for legit players to prosper, and that eludes to Takebacker's points.
