i agree, the new white knight rule looks too ambiguous to me, i mean is it really required? not like the new quotes change the way we read and post in threads (regarding discussions between several people.)

on the other topics, i like the quotes as they are, i can see who quoted me, and i can see a list of threads where i've been quoted, that's perfect as is.

one question though, and this goes back to out last discussion where i mentioned the Person quote system, you said it wouldn't work with people that had spaces in their names, how does that work now? if it works.

Worked. I was messing around with the BBC that the @ stuff turns into, I understand the system more or less now. Cool stuff.

If you edit or quote a post with a mention in it, you'll see the following BBC.

X [ /mention]

# The member's ID number, Fiel being 1, you being 7678, me being 3288, etc.
X Being the name mentioned.

Looks like # just serves as a pointer for who's profile the mention links to, and X is who actually gets notified. Though it could be that if # doesn't match X, it just doesn't notify anybody. Isn't really useful for me to test which is which, since all I wanted to know is if I could mention, say, Viaje, as "Pretty Pretty Princess" and for him to still get the notif.

Only place I see doing a mention manually being useful, is if there's a confliction in usernames. So if you wanted to notify somebody named "Eos The Poptart" but the regular way just notified Eos himself.

not much over what i know then, btw, the quote i did of you earlier, i wrote manually (as in mention=#, name, then close tag) instead of the @crap, so if you did get notified, it could be that it has to match? not sure and eos isn't answering, probably recharging batteries or something.

I did get it.

This mention has some random (inactive) guy's #, but your name:

ShinkuDragon

and i got it, so i guess it's what's between the parenthesis that count.

also, my mentions got cleaned.

Last try: ShinkuDragon

edit: Yeah, it also autocompletes the user number if you just use the (mention)(/mention) with the name in the middle.

To expand on that Shidoshi, it actually replaces any number you put in manually as well, so long as the username actually exists. The test with the inactive guy's # but Shinku's name actually replaced the # with 7678 (Shinku). However if the username doesn't exist (DargenMan test), then it leaves the # as-is, since there's no number to replace it. So # is completely pointless to ever fill out, unless you're really being crafty. Would be a half-decent-ish way to link to somebody's profile without actually mailing off a notif, but that's probably about it.

Suppose only one unknown thing left, if somebody mentions you in a forum you have no access to (Eos' Super-Secret Bunnygirl House, Donator forum, Mod forum, whatever), do you still get the notif? Would assume you either get the notif but get a "no access LOL" error message if you click on it, or you get nothing at all.

That's not unknown. You get nada.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.
