How about " or or +1" instead of some sort of heart? Fits thematically and culturally for the forum.

Meso would be another idea, small, gold, everybody wants more of it whoops economy. I have it currently set to no image at all though, makes the button look more in-line with the Report button beside it, and post titles not look so...odd. But I'm a minimalist for UI settings, so that's just a personal thing.

OK, so, other than being able to express our approval of posts without a "this"/"QFT"/"me too" post, and receiving such concise approval for our own posts, can this be put to other uses?

For example, I'd like to be able to find out
- posts my favorite stalkee liked;
- my biggest fan(s);
- my stalkee's biggest fan(s);
- the most liked posts in the past week (to be sure I haven't missed anything important);
- thread with the highest average "likes" per post;
and so on and so forth...

I've disabled all those until I decide which ones I want to allow, which ones aren't going to drive stupidity, which ones actually have value, and of course, where to put them that doesn't annoy me.

All of which comes after figuring out something to do with those darn spammy boxes.

Can we please not do the total +1s thing though? Honestly I feel as if that causes more harm than good. Just by looking at how other forums and their "thank" system is. -shudder-

Knowing who is approving is the less useful info, but how much is rather important.

I don't really need ideas on what to do with it, those are fairly finite already and pretty obvious, I need about 30 extra hours in the week to actually get to it.

That would obviously be abuse of the system and reason to revoke your privileges, yes.

Pretty neat i guess, i always liked this idea of mentions and liking. But it would be alot nicer visually if it was "2 persons +1'd this post" that appears right beside the blue heart or something.

So does that mean you intend to remove the extraneous listing of everyone who "approves" a post?

I actually see the merit of such systems, but, as it is now, it's fairly icky.
The heart and the +(number) appearing in the title of the post is rather off-putting mostly because it looks shoved in.
I'd find it far more intuitive as well as visually appealing if the +(number) appeared just to the left of where the current +1 button is.
