Oh, it's a trailer for the English-dubbed version. I kept wondering why this is news now.

This was released in england last year, i'm sure i saw the posters for it in the cinema.

Regardless, it's studio ghibli and it's so damn pretty.
I haven't watched it yet, but i'm sure i will eventually.

For me its the guy the one sounding off. It's either the character is sick or the dubber in RL is.

Well taking in mind that the character is sick, that the dubber being sick would make it better.

I've always thought dubbing is for kids who haven't learned to read. I just can't see any appeal to it, even less so after what Disney did with Ponyo.

One thing about subbed films that i've never liked is that you have to keep your attention on it at all times.

When i'm watching a film my attention wanes, and i usually look at something else while listening, you can't do that with a subbed film, and you can miss important plot points if you do.

It's just minor nitpicking i know.

That's why most people do not like subs, in ANY type of movie, show, etc.

Not only do you have to keep your eyes further down every single time they speak, but you have to read all the lines faster to make sure you don't miss out on any of the dialogue. Sure, looking at the subs at the same time as watching might not be AS annoying when watching animu on a shitty fansite or whatever, because often times the videos are about the size of a Gameboy screen, but when watching it in theatres the fucking subs are like 5miles below all the scenes.

That's a valid point, I don't know how I'd never had a problem with that.

Wow, this is coming out now? I've watched the new "From Up on Poppy Hill" already (Kokuriko-zaka kara), but I couldn't go the cinema when Arriety came out.

I'm glad I could watch this subbed in Paris with original japanese VAs.

Just watched with my mom because she's loved The Borrowers her whole life. She mentioned to me the other week she heard a new Borrowers movie was coming out, so I investigated and found it was an anime... Got me interested, as well. Got the original audio with subtitles, though, of course.

We loved it. Wish there was more.

 On the subject of dubbing

Oh and the dub sounds atrocious in that trailer. I don't get it. Doesn't matter the language, dubbing over the original just never sounds as good. Say what you will.

And I've never had any trouble viewing the entire picture and reading the subtitles simultaneously. Don't understand that, either. We are both very fast readers, though. Maybe that has something to do with it? It feels natural to me. No different than watching something in English.
