Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald? Which should I livestream?
#1
For those of you wondering, I have my 21st birthday coming up next month. So I'm planning on streaming Pokemon of the Hoenn region on TwitchTV, BUT streaming all 3 of them will be tedious and boring to the viewers, so I'm thinking of streaming only one game. And no, I'm not going to stream that on my birthday (saving that day for Final Fantasy IV,) I will stream it on the day before I turn 21.

So which Pokemon version should I stream? Ruby? Sapphire? Emerald?

Note: Keep in mind that I'm....

1. going for the starters color coded depending on which version I'm playing. That means you'll see me use Torchic on Ruby version, Mudkip on Sapphire, and Treeko on Emerald.
2. NOT going to use Emulators. You'll see me playing RSE on Gameboy Player, and Final Fantasy IV on my Playstation 2. (I have a capture card mind you.)
3. not going for Imports, so no GBA version of Final Fantasy IV PERIOD!
4. going to be a Girl on Ruby and Emerald. If Sapphire gets the most votes, I'm going for my default gender. and FINALLY...
5. I might not beat the game on time considering that I'll stream about 6 to 10 hours of gameplay.

I will go with the game that has the most votes.

>no imports
>no NES version

>Sad

i'd suggest emerald, but since that would mean playing without torchic, ruby it is.

Emerald, because it's better. and Sceptile is definitely one of my favourite starters, Leaf Blade ftw.

You picked the worst goddamned generation.

Enjoy your trumpets, endless surfing, and Wingull.

I think it's his favorite generation(for some reason), a lot of his posts and such about Pokemon have been about it iirc. Agreed though, Mark. I'd rather 2nd gen, or 1st.

While i found Generation 3 to be the most annoying (most annoying wild encounters, most annoying world to travel around) i did really like the world itself. like the soot fields around the volcano, or the town in the treetops, or the town floating on the sea or mirage island. it was an awesome world, but so difficult and tedious to travel around that it got really boring really fast.

Though some of my favourite pokemon did come from that generation, like Kecleon, Castform, Groudon, Sceptile etc.

It was a really well designed world overall, it just could have been executed better, which is why i'm hoping so bad for a remake

For me, it's my absolute favorite. I don't find those to be my problem (Lots of Surfing, but your surfing speed has been increased.) So yeah, that's why I'm streaming it since IMO it's the best generation.

The WORST generation IMO would have to do with exploring Kanto after defeating the Elite Four (I'm not kidding, look at the nerfs, you'll know what I'm talking about.)

I'd say R/S/E was the worst generation in terms of actual pokemon added ('cept for Latios, because he's a fucking boss), but the overworld and music....my god, they're incredible. Except the insane amount of surfing on the right side of the world map.

I voted Emerald, but now I think I prefer Ruby, play with Blaziken as your only combat pokemon!

I'd say 1st gen was the worst because there aren't really any noteworthy Pokemon in the 1st gen. In my honest opinion none of them stood out at all.

2nd Gen introduced some badasses, and I personally put in over 500hours on my old Sapphire. (3rd gen) I barely remember anything of 4th Gen though; it was the most forgettable generation in my opinion. It seems like that gen was just quickly swept under the rug and then 5th Gen was released.

Not sure if serious, or just had no childhood.

Between R/S/E, I'd do Emerald. I played all 3, and my favorite between the three is Emerald. Put 200 or so hours into it. Though that doesn't even eclipse the amount of time I spear on Pearl.. lol

Cloyster, Tauros, SCYTHER.

While i do like a lot of the later designs, the originals were the ones i grew up with and i still love them to bits.
I remember the first time generation 2 was announced, i remember seeing Spinarak and being over the moon, i really wanted a spider pokemon. Each generation has just added on to the awesomeness that was the first generation.

Gameplay wise, the game is obviously a lot better now, but the pokemon never change, the nostalgia is still there and the originals can never be replaced.

I also remember when i got my first Mew last year, after 10 years of it being the pokemon i had never managed to get in first generation, it was immensely satisfying.

hit me up with some gengar, and abra, the original troll.

not to mention mothereffing mewtwo.

i like R/S/E because deoxys, yes. but even so i'd put it last/second to last.

edit: except the secret bases, that's my favorite addition to any pokemon game EVER, screw pearl.

They're not worthless. 1st Generation has barely any Pokemon not worth having. Being my 2nd favorite, It has most of the good Pokemon compared to others.

2nd Generation and 4th Generation both have lots of forgettable Pokemon IMO.

Anyways, keep in mind that you guys'll see me use the other version that I'm otherwise not going to stream as a client game in order to trade Pokemon (I'm going to use Pokemon that requires you to trade in order to evolve since I have a GBA Link Cable as well as Gameboy Advance SP mind you.) Don't worry, this stream isn't about 100% completion, so I won't get all the Pokemon, and I won't catch any Legendary Pokemon (let alone use a Master Ball on them since it's instant catch when used which I recommend you use it on Roaming Legendary Pokemon if you're having the worst luck, especially in 2nd and 3rd Generation)
