PSA: New trick to ban yourself. Please read.

So apparently if you hold 'E' (or whatever you have the equipment menu bound to) you will get a popup that says you have been BLOCKED by the GMPolice for the HACK reason. If a player tells you to do this, DO NOT FALL FOR IT!

Here's the ticket I sent to Nexon regarding this issue. PLEASE file a ticket, this is very important! Before I was banned I saw another player saying he was going to go spread this 'exploit' to other people!

I was playing MapleStory on the El Nido server, browsing Free Market when a player stopped me and asked me if I heard about the 'new exploit.' He told me to hold the 'E' key (to open and close the equipment window repeatedly) for about 10 seconds and wait for a popup for a surprise. Figuring it could not do any harm, I went ahead and did it. I got a pop up: it said that I have been blocked by the GM police for the HACK reason. I was disconnected and whenever I try to log in the screen goes black and I am unable to play now. This is a mistake and it needs to be corrected. My account was wrongfully banned because I was tricked by another player. I should not be banned for a mistake on Nexon's behalf. I am a paying customer and have never done anything to violate the ToS. Please fix this exploit immediately.

I'm not sure, the whole thing doesn't make any sense at all. Why would opening your equipment inventory cause a ban? Anyways, did you try it in FM entrance channel 1? That's where I was when I got banned.

Lag? But the banned seems odd since most of the time GM police just dc you.

What determines a "Boot Ban" vs. an actual month ban from the game? I received a TON of these during the lag issues on my DS and I never actually got banned.

The word blocked vs disconnected in the message. Blocked is a temp ban, disconnected is exactly what it says.

I see. Then my next question: Why do some things only get you disconnected and others get you banned?

Seems like "for hack reason" SHOULD (as in -- if it actually only kicked in as a response to ACTUAL HACKING ) result in a ban no matter what. While ... holding down E should not.

Getting dc'd is almost always becuase of lag, either you lag, or someone on your map. Having summons or counter skills killing when you just enter a map can also tricker it. Getting blocked is because of a fault auto system that acts up becuase of nexons stupidity, like this new E thing or the old CWK map problems.

anyways, it just happened to my mule account after 30 seconds of holding the key. Confirming this now. I hit the wrong key trying to screenshot it though.

^ Not related to this glitch, but proof 'blocked' doesn't always = ban. My DS got 'blocked' while I was lagging s'hitless, but I relogged immediately after.

Lol, if anyone wants to lock their account now so they can't be hacked, that's a good way =D

This is the 3rd account I've gotten banned on by spamming E, the last two were brand new. Sometimes it didn't work, and for some reason, most of the time I had fraps on and recording, it didn't ban me, but after going into the Cash Shop, and moving around a bit, I was eventually banned.

Oh also, though my cursor is hovering over the equip button, I wasn't clicking, lol, coincedence.

Tried this on my main account like a goon.

Site access also fails either by some odd error code (110xx) or something or just getting disconnected outright when selecting a channel. At least my in-game assets are safe for a month. =_=

Does this work with other menus or is it just the Equip menu?
