Do you think they will ever
#1
Do you think nexon will ever nerf elemental wands for bishops? [as in give the negative % to holy damage] Even though they do not give any elemental bonus's, it would still be a signifagant[sp] magic attack boost if I were to acquire one [would give me over 1320 matk]. Just wondering If anyone had some inside information, or possible predictions, as I am highly considering saving up for one.

These weapons were made to improve our position compared to the other classes, including Bishops. Bishops have the upper hand in grinding, since the good spots are holy weak. So instead of making fire and ice weak training spots, they take the lazy route and make these broken wands. Creating a holy wand would undo that "fix". But yeah, as soon as fire and ice weak training spots come out for the high levels, a holy weapon would be necessary, since Bishops will fall behind again.

It's a cycle generated by an exceptional bad balanced game.

Do the weapons in gMS currently not have a damage reduction by 25% for elements not supported by weapons? Was that not how they were suppose to work? (i.e. even magic claw will have reduced damage if an archmage using an elemental.)

I've used an Elemental Weapon for a while now without penalty. Its been a few patches and server checks since these weapons were fixed and there hasn't been any holy reduction. However, supposedly Arch Mages get the reduction if they use the opposite elements. Thus, I'm going to assume this is how Nexon intended to have the weapons function.

Then again, you never know if they decide to nerf them. The safest bet is to either not use an Elemental Weapon, or use an Ice Wand so that it won't lose too much value.

This is how it works in all other versions to the best of my knowledge. Stuff in red is what doesn't happen in GMS

- +25% boost to the main element
- +10% boost to the secondary element
- (-25)% reduction to the opposite element [only considering ice, lightning, fire, and poison]
- +0% boost to neutral attacks
- (-25)% reduction to holy attacks

I really do hope we get that reduction as most of the element 5~8 wands are being wielded by bishops instead of archmages. This was supposed to be a boost to archmages but since there's no negative to bishops, they're in effect taking away our boost by making it harder to get one as on the average a bishop has a lot more funds than an archmage.

Not really as damage cap is still 99,999

I think the position of the Element Weapons are fine as is. There are plenty of Arch Mages who have these weapons. I'd say although Bishops might have more money than Arch Mages in general, most Bishops wouldn't have the funds to afford these weapons. It all comes down to how you acquire meso.

I see many Arch Mages who can perfect 1 hit Skelegons by the 16X. How many Bishops can do that? Not too many. Most of us can perfect 1 hit at around Level 175-185. It gives the Arch Mages the boost in power that they need, and Bishops get a little more Magic Attack (which barely affects damage). I'd say that things are as balanced as it can be for the time being. Plus, when we get Singapore Expansion I bet that Arch Mages aren't going to complain about how broken Bishops are. Arch Mages have an advantage in about every map whereas Bishops have an advantage in only the Dragon Nest Left Behind.

Sure, Blizzard and Meteor Ultimates are double the cost of Genesis, but in this age of selling leech the pot costs shouldn't be a problem. For Arch Mages who can't afford these weapons, just work harder for meso.

In the end, I think things are pretty balanced. *Hugs Fire Wand*

Jason,
I think your best bet is to save up for a doomsday (if you aren't lukless) or a maple shine wand and buy it. The price has gone down for these since these elemental wands have come out. These weapons would be your best bet. The provide alot of mattk with little or no luk requirement.Glitter

I also think the wands are balanced the way they are.

Mages train faster than Bishops once they OHKO Newties, which happens very early thanks to Elemental Wands. OHKO Newties > 2hko Skeles. Bishops don't OHKO skeles until late 16x.

Plus, Arch Mages' skill books are so much cheaper. I failed two Genesis 30's at 300m each. For the same price, an I/L could have attempted 6 Blizzards, and a F/P could have attempted 60 Meteos.

The wands aren't THAT rare to begin with so it really shouldn't matter whether Bishops can wield them or not. I doubt the price would significantly drop if Nexon implemented the -25%. These wands are ENDGAME weapons for Mages by a mile. Thus the price tag is going to be large regardless.

I would absolutely die if genesis was 300 mil each in mardia, as they would be easy for me to obtain.

In response to josh:
I am lukless, and the current weapon I am using is a 107 + 16 maple shine wand. The reason for asking this question was, If i can get a 15x 16x matk weapon, the need for genesis 30 would greatly diminish.

If they dont incorperate the -25% to holy damage, I will highly consider saving up to purchace a level 130 wand, and/or just wait to get it from family HT runs. Either way Im just looking for a reason to train again, as I've hit the proverbial wall.

Not going to read the replies, but I think they're fine the way it is.
The purpose of these weapons were to balance the AM and Bishops, and with the extra 25% boost, it certainly balances out.

Pushing for that 25% reduction in holy attacks is going overboard. They only benefit from maybe 50 magic at most? Give the bishops a break...

Just from my point of view and my opinion, I believe that bishops are holding most of the 130 wands. They're getting a small boost [50 magic according to you above] and indirectly taking a weapon away from an archmage which would give them a 25% boost. So really, one could view it as bishops taking a big advantage away from archmages if they use those weapons instead of a good 64 maple weapon which costs a lot less. It'd probably be wiser to spend the extra money from buying an e-wand into better lukless equips so in the end, it'll balance out.

I don't ever recall Nexon ever saying these Element Weapons were meant for Arch Mages and that these weapons were intended for Class Balance~ This is Global MapleStory and so just because we have Element Wands implemented, doesn't mean they were added for the same reasons as KMS. I don't see why Bishops can't use these weapons as well. Just deal with it.

Also, how often can you spend just 700mil+ for a 20-50 (depending on how strong your previous weapon is) magic increase? In Scania, a 10INT / 20M.Att Shield can be bought 2 bil. Clearly the best way to maximize magic power while saving meso is to buy the Element Wands.

Arch Mages should just make more meso, and they'll get the Element Weapons that they need. Simple as that.

- Because almost everything from KMS translates to GMS exactly and there aren't that many differences

- Also, bishops have more advantages to gain/save mesos due to current situations, skills, etc over archmages.

Elemental staff were Originally from jMS iirc , matt. kMS is not big on custom weapons and items

bladestaff's, rigbol , dragon khanjar and other items all fall into this category.

You have no proof of this. For all we know, GMS implemented these Element Weapons so more people would Gacha and by doing that, Nexon would earn more money from this.

Bishops may save in pots and gain meso, but the amount isn't so significant that it would allow any Bishop to afford an Element Weapon. Like I said, Arch Mages should find a way to make money just like the Bishops that have Element Wands.

I never said I had proof, just the fact that in the past, it's usually been like this so chances are likely it will continue but there are no guarantees.

Bishop advantages

- Wanted at boss runs so easier to get money from splits
- Easier to leech people as no HS mule is required, thus you have an easier time to make mesos from leechers
- Save anywhere from 500k~2m+/hr in pot costs compared to archmages

All that stuff adds up. Sure if I was a bishop, I'd probably buy one if I had the funds. But I'd rather see it be used by the class that makes the most use of it. This is the same logic why boss runners give apples to their NLs [first priority] over their BMs/Heroes/Other classes.

1) Zak Splits are a Joke. There's so many Bishop nowadays, most of them can't even go to HT and even so, HT splits are dramatically decreasing with the Event Map spitting out Genesis 30 and Gacha Chests giving Maple Hero 20. Some HT runs I've been to have been splitless.

2) Even without HS, Arch Mages can still easily find somebody to leech. There are many desperate for leech.

3) 500k - 2mil per hour isn't very significant if you're buying something that's 700mil to max Mesos.

Arch Mages should just go merchant or boss more instead of spamming ultimates all day.

My friend (I/L arch mage) confirmed that when he used my other friend's Elemental Wand 6 (poison), it gives him -50% damage reduction. I think Nexon left the wands the way they are on purpose. I'm starting to drift towards Bishops deserving them. I feel bad they have expensive skills. :p

Most bishops pick up the Elemental Wand 5 (fire), anyway. I'm glad bishops don't perfer the less-common I/L's wands. FaP mages need a little love though, otherwise things are fine the way they are. In my server fire wands are most expensive than ice wands.

OK, so you're in Bellocan. Doesn't mean you can't merchant and boss to make mesos and possibly NX Cash so you can gacha.
