Get a PS/2 keyboard, unlike USB PS/2 supports full n-key rollover.
Not a big spender, but my Das Professional is one of the most satisfying purchases I've ever made.

Yeah, if he can wait Ivy is around the corner. If not, for video production a 2600k is the way to go.
He could benefit from the extra RAM, but the voltages on the mushkin aren't really within the recommended range for Sandy Bridge processors.
I would go with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...6820233203 if you were set on the 16 GB. 8 is future proof enough, but if you do a LOT of editing and such, 16 GB will help. The CAS timings are also lower, but real benefit is negligible.

Alright. I'm gonna start saving up for a new computer, gonna go for around a 1000$ budget. I'm looking for something that can handle Tera Online at top settings or near-top setting at the very least. Just looking for a tower build, no monitor, keyboard, mouse, anything else included. I have the RAM I need already, so no need to include that. Just a new case, mobo, Graphics card, Processor, power supply. I know next to nothing about computer parts, so some help would be much appreciated.

I'm looking to replace my old desktop+monitor combo with a new desktop/laptop. I need it because my current one heats up insanely fast (with only maple running on it and nothing else), and also tends to give random BSOD while playing maple. I need one that has no trouble running maple+browser+videos+skype+etc. at the same time, doesn't heat up at all, and is built to last for a good 5+ and basically not be out-of-date after even a few years pass.
What parts are in your current computer? Be as specific as possible. Links to Newegg/Tigerdirect are best. If you have a pre-built, include the make and model.
Current computer is desktop/monitor combo VAIO Pentium 4 3.2Ghz, 1GB RAM. Graphics card is NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700.

It's likely to primarily be used for mapling, browsing, and video streaming simultaneously pretty much. But I won't this computer to have no problems with doing 10 things at once (quickly), even though it'll most likely being running only a few large programs at the same time rarely. Bottom line: mostly to be used for maple and browsing.

Very similar to what I did for my build.
The HDD you're going to want to look around for since HDD prices will be high through 2012 and into 2013. If you can find a spinpoint f3 though, best non-ssd on the market IMO.
2500k gives you good overclocking headroom, with that same cpu/cooler I'm at 4.5ghz running low 30's idle.
If you don't have an OS you can ask a student friend from a university.

I'm looking to build a $1k desktop for someone and I have two problems:
- Are there any aesthetically appealing case from a feminine perspective? I would imagine curves, white/blue/purple in color, and uhh... I don't know. I'm considering this case. Eye-candy, not too horrible build quality, cable management availability, lightweight.
- For multi-monitor purposes, I heard that Eyefinity would be a good choice. Can you recommend a ~$150 card with this preference?

In terms of aesthetics, I would think the Carbide 400R from Corsair and the 600T from Corsair are two of the best looking cases in the market. Not exactly lightweight, but good build quality, USB 3.0, and great cable management. Plus being able to turn off the LEDs is a plus.

Nevermind about the case, I'm happy with the CoolerMaster Elite 311 for this non-extreme build.
Rethinking the card, it seems to use PCIe 2.1 while I can't find anything about support for that from the motherboard specs. Maybe 2.1 is just a buzzword, but I'll need to look into this a bit.

Again, you might as well downgrade the mobo since the case does not support 3.0 on the front USBs.
Great cooler choice, Noctua makes rock steady products, but you might want to look into swapping your RAM for low-profile heatsinks.
Rosewill makes great products for the price, you might want to look into cable extenders, but it seems alright.
If your friend doesn't have a storage HDD you're going to need to get one, 64 GB will not cut it.
Unless it's a true budget build, might as well invest a bit more in the case

I'm planning to use this or some other similar alternatives, so I specifically looked for a motherboard with front panel USB 3.0 connectors.
Originally, I intended to re-use my HDDs because of the current price spike in this market, but I forgot that all of them are SATA 3.0, so I'll probably need to get a budget drive too.
Though, what exactly is this low-profile heatsink thing related to RAM? I never pay much attention to heat problem when it comes to RAM, less so when the Noctua can cover part of the RAM slots too.

It doesn't need the heat sink. I intend for the computer to just handle graphics editing softwares and maybe run a bunch of Maple clients as maximum load, but buying a 2500k without considering overclocking is kind of a waste, so the investment in the cooler is mostly for that possibility in the future.
I'm concerned about the heat exhaust aspect of the low-end case as well. I had to choose that case because it looks the best (most feminine-friendly) without shelling out $150+ for the Corsair 600T Graphite. If the case fails to do a good job at heat dissipation, perhaps the cooler will keep my CPU and northbridge safe. Though, I don't think cases have much to do with that, if I stack enough fans onto it anyway. This case supports front, rear and side fans so I'm covered.

Running an O/C'd 2500k at 4.5 with a Hyper 212 from Cooler Master, if I were you I'd go with that instead. Depending on the cooler and spacing of the RAM, it can be impossible to put in RAM because the high heatsinks are blocked by the cooler. So look for low-profile heat sinks.

That heat sink just seems wildly excessive for such use. The problem with the Ripjaws is their high profile fins would likely be blocked by the heat sink. I have Ripjaw Xs with the PRO version of your motherboard there, and the closest slot is blocked by my Cooler Master Hyper 212+, or it has bare millimeters of clearance.
I would recommend the Hyper 212+ like Danparkk. They're about $35~40 and the highest rated heat sink on Newegg at 2500+ votes.
