It's not just the HH Yi skin, there's other skins that can crash games when ghosted by Morde / Yorick.
But glad to see Riot didn't fix the issue :|
Locket really works well with champions that don't negate harass or lack a shield, I find. Granted I play Karma as a support so I've never used the item myself.

I actually find it pretty great on any support, it's amazing when your other CDs are down and it's a 5 man shield, it is also a great thing to turn HoG into instead of omen.
Ugh just had to deal with enemy Jungle Mundo. Really unpleasant getting killed at my red and then he just proceeded to rape every lane.
We actually made a good comeback except for our vlad who died 11 times to Akali and bitched at the whole team nonstop..oh well.

iirc for tournament play it's something like sona>soraka>janna>alistar>everybodyelse, but I can't remember for sure. I haven't seen too many Alistar players in tournaments, probably because top/jungle tanks are so common.

i remember hearing or maybe reading somewhere that high elo peeps dont like to play alistar because of his super aggressive zoning playstyle, along with how people rage if u mess up headbut pulverize.
QQ Sad

You guys knew I'd be sad when they nerf soraka and I will be for sure. Odds are good though that they will simply increase her mana cost on W which is fine by me, it had a fake mana cost anyways.

Soraka could actually oom if she spammed Q and W. Problem? Many usually don't spam both in the first place, and not for long either.
Riot is searching in the wrong places in my opinion for the support issue. They shouldn't nerf current supports like Sona or Soraka but should instead buff the utility on Champions like Lux or Orianna so they can rival Janna and Alistar. They're ignoring that Soraka can't do anything by herself because her q gets maxed so late compared to sona's q and janna's bonus shield AD. Her heal also has a long cooldown and the armour buff on it is a big deal, using it every time it's off cd isn't the best approach usually so it requires some actual thinking. Sona does it all but none of it amazingly. Soraka outheals her, Janna outcc's her. She's fairly balanced to me, but it's hard to measure the impact her aura's have on a fight. I just love the support role as it's the only role that's actually constantly focused on the champions instead of the minions due to no last hitting. I've played over 15 varieties but in the end some just don't have what it takes compared to others. Soraka goes OOM easily if she's in an extended skirmish where she uses Q, she's balanced enough too in my opinion.
I think the problem people see with Sona is she offers a lot of burst, and that meshes well with any ad available.

I think Lux is in a fine spot. She mixes offensive power with utility, and her ability to poke in lane is rather frightening. Granted, it's no Cassiopeia level of harass, but she does it from a safe distance and somewhat easily too.

Support Soraka alone? No way!

Unless you're against a kill lane or expecting an encounter from their jungler, using it everytime it is off CD is the best answer. Kill lanes are admittedly the best way to combat Soraka + carry combo, or otherwise it mostly gets reduced to a farm fest.

Also, the usual response when you feel threatened and may lose is to play more safely or withdraw. Down and hurting? No problem, just wait for Soraka healing and be fine. It only comes up more often than minion waves do.
SONA IS WIDELY REGARDED AS THE BEST SUPPORT.

SORAKA IS WIDELY REGARDED AS A CLOSE SECOND.

JANNA BLOWS. LITERALLY.

I THINK SOME PEOPLE FORGET THAT A SORAKA LANE IS LITERALLY THE MOST ANNOYING pomegranate IN THE WORLD.
Sona's burst is ridiculous at early levels. Win lane win game mentality.
Soraka's sustain is ridiculous for the whole lane phase. Basically forces it to be an afk farm battle.
I'm curious to see how they're going to tweak the two.

In other news I finally got around to picking up my flat AD marks and with the recent buffs Ashe is a lot of fun to play again.
Also I found a post on the forum linking to a blog by Chaox (one of the best ranged AD players) where he admits "Miss Fortune is overpowered". It's about time people recognize she is actually a pretty damn good AD carry.
Three "Sleeper OP"s, huh...

Hate that Pineapple.

Janna would be really good if she had a heal besides her Ult. Since she has to protect her carry preemptively rather than retroactively it makes her not a really solid pick. Now if they let her slow-bird go to allies to heal&speed them (kayle-style?), that would be nice.

Kayle heal isnt that good in the first place anyway, its not bad, but its not on soraka/sona level. I think even Ali heal its better.

She needs some serious quality of life buffs. Stuff like her passive actually revealing people for 5 seconds or something so her ultimate can be used as a long range scouting skill and gaining even more brush control. It's a freaking illumination debuff for christ sakes. She's horrible as a support bottom now and that's the side of her that they should be buffing. I agree that AP lux mid is fairly balanced but should still receive some really mild buffs. Getting these in the form of improved utility is just the thing she needs. Her mana costs are also really outdated compared to other champions.

On to another topic, how do you guys build your Soraka and Sona nowadays. After possible nerfs incoming I've decided imma marathon these champs for the weekend. On Sona I get fairie charm + 3 wards (1 purple) + health pot into philo, HoG, Merc treads, Chalice, HoG, Solari, Randuins, Shureilia's rarely get beyond this point but probably some aura items. Aside from the obvious skill leveling do you get heal or speed up first after the first point? On Soraka I go regen pendant+ward into philo, HoG, Merc treads, Shurelia's, HoG, Solari, Randuins, Abyscell scepter, Frozen heart, Rylai's. Aside from the obvious again do you get a point into star call early? If so, why? Do you use your ultimate to get assists even though your heal isn't needed at all?

These are the (final) items I usually get on a support Soraka, in no particular order:

Philo Stone --> Shurelya's
HoG --> Locket of the Iron Solari (yay!)
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
Aegis of the Legion
WotA (if necessary)
Randuins (if necessary)
Abyssal Scepter
Kage's Lucky Pick --> Keep for GP5, sell later when you're through with it.

For support Sona, its about the same. Though if you wish, you can throw in a Tear since you'll be stance dancing through your abilities while supporting.

About Starcall: If I'm playing support Soraka, I will not get it unless absolute necessary (in other words, max W and E first). Though I have the option to just put one point in it early and just leave it there. Some people you might lane with will go OCD on you if you spam that skill. Just a heads up. In the event you're by yourself waiting for your laning partner to come back, use it to farm up a bit (but don't push lane too far).

tl;dr about Starcall: Max it last, get one point if you want, but don't touch it until later on.
Typically my Sona build is: 0/9/21
Armor Reds, Armor Yellows, MR/Level Blues, and GP5 Quints

Start Fairy Charm, 4 wards 1 health pot (utility mastery for extra starting gold)
Boots
Philo
HoG
Mercs
If Winning, rush Shurelyas. If losing Rush Aegis. Then the other.
Tear/Chalice
After is maybe a Deathcap or Starks.

I only take 5 items on supports because you always want a 6th slot for wards at all times.

More ranked winning streaks with Irelia:
