What's greed got to do with it? They're a business. Businesses exist to make money. If this problem is not cutting into their money in a way they can prove, and therefore care about, they have no incentive to fix it. They can't prove fixing it will earn them more money, but they can prove that fixing it will cost them money. Would you invest $100,000 or more in something that has no guaranteed return?

It's much easier for them to just keep the game running like this. Afterall, it's not like 100% of their population is getting hacked, but just a consistent part of it. As long as they keep earning NX, they won't see it as a huge issue.

And what does this have to do with anything that I said?
Did it suddenly change the fact Nexon is a business?
Did all these people suddenly stop buying NX and do so in a way that Nexon couldn't help but notice, despite the millions of players they (claim) to have?
Have lawsuits been filed somehow/somewhere to get their attention?

All you're doing is spewing random facts we already know as if they actually relate to each other meaningfully, or as if they change anything.

We already know:

1) People are getting hacked, through multiple means.
2) Nexon is aware of it.
3) It's still occurring.
4) People are upset.
5) Nexon is doing nothing they'll admit to about it.

Anything that rehashes any of those five facts in any form is Not News.

@Raul, you got to stop adding arrogance + sarcasm every time you reply to someone you don't agree with, specially when it's people obviously affected by something like this and are upset. It's like walking to someone whose car just got stolen and calling them drama queen.

Anyway, there might be different ways of hacking and different groups behind each attack, but what is pretty obvious is that there's been a database leak. It's happened countless times before. The only reason why Nexon doesn't acknowledge it yet is because there's just no obvious proof, unlike the MTS incident which had a list of ID's in every MS related site, so even if they found out how it happened, they would just fix it and go on with their business.

Even after quitting over a year ago, it's still going on. Makes me believe that someone within the company is orchestrating this or has a hand in all of this.

I can look at my support ticket now, but there's still nothing new.
I mean, I only lost like 3k nx, I don't even care if they give it back to me; I just want a damn human to look at my ticket. >_>

Last week, 3-4 months after one of my accounts got hacked, I received an email from Nexon. No copy of it, but it said something along the lines of "a GM looked into it, sorry for the wait, we are working on some form of compensation for you soon, here's 5k NX to tide you over for now."

Since I had cleaned off anything of worth on the account after the hacking, I just MTS'd the NX over to my main's account. Was slightly surprised to get the email, let alone 5k NX out of it, and still crap potentials from the cubes I bought

Uhm, I'm not sure what happened, but between the last week of December and today, my sister's account had gotten reactivation emails everyday, saying that her account was deactivated, and needed to reactivate. However, I was always able to log on it (even to do the ring event), meaning it wasn't deactivated at all. However, today when I tried logging on to make the ring tradeable, it said the account was deactivated for suspicious activity/inactivity (which obviously isnt the case, cause I've been on it upgrading the ring), and needed reactivating.

I'm not sure what's happening, but it seems to go into the "getting hacked" category, so hence the post here. However, I AM curious what's up, though it doesnt matter much, as there's nothing on there to steal (and nothing has been taken).

Are the e-mails really from nexon? Did you check the details and reply to address and all that? My guess would be phishing tyring to get you to reply with significant info. When you said "today it said" did you mean the e-mail you got today or when you logged into maplestory?

Today when I logged into maple story. As for the previous emails, I only glanced over them without much thought because the account obviously wasn't deactivated, though I'll see if I can take a look at them again when my sister gets home. My sister had gotten the emails on and off for the last month and a half now. The difference is now the account is actually deactivated, lol.

Edit: so it turns out my sister's hermit's account is connected to an old email address of hers (one that got deleted). Luckily I was able to recreate the email address and reactivate. Which leads to the question, what account (if any) is tied to her normal email...

Let's see, my two best friends got hacked. About 3 months apart from each other.

Two of us helped the first one who got hacked and that was fine. We made up for it. Now, another one gets hacked and that's about 5B+ of stuff.

This is just terrible and there is no point for us to play any more. We always trio'd at zakum and enjoyed the contents without ever really grinding as crazy folks would. Sadly, Nexon system is flawed somewhere. My friend would be the last person I'd suspect of being hacked. He kept everything so safely since he started at the same time as me (Beta).

This is just stupid. Losing some very respected players.

After 7(?) years on maple (since beta), I've been hacked as well.
Took my weapon, shoes and all my evolving rings, and threw away belt and pendent on one of my characters.

Logged out and now I can't see the channels selection screen after pressing the Scania button on world selection...

Heard some reports of people getting hacked quite recently, believe one of them changed their information and got hacked. Could be wise to not change information and perhaps lock some valuable items just in case. Doesn't stop deletion, but helps if they don't resort to deletion

No you're just totally f ucked full stop, there is nothing you can do. That's the worst thing about it. Doesn't matter how conscious or secure you are.

If your MS Accnt gets hacked, there's a good chance they hacked your email to get into it. Not saying all cases are like this, but that's how some occur.

The first thing I did when I noticed I had NX missing was to check my email's IP access log; just me in there.
Most of the recent hijackings haven't needed email access, so I hear.

No one ending up with reset passwords and the like, which I assume is how it goes if they get into your email but don't know your Nexon login info.
