3DS discussion with Tokyo Gameshow Tidbits: Ace Vs. Layton

I can't do both to save my life!
Resident evil : Revelations demo is out tomorrow on the eshop for both Eu and NA. (As well as a cooking mama 4 demo for europe, I'm sure that everyone here wants that one...)

Is it possible to jump on a proxy so I can download cooking mama? Or are 3DS's assigned to their country by model/firmware rather than IP. .__.

I think the eShop is locked by the country you entered when you set up your 3DS, and though you can change it, I don't think it lets you change it outside of the area you bought your 3DS in (I.e., my european 3DS can be set to UK/France/Germany, etc, but no luck on America or Japan). I tried to change mine to NA at one point so I could get Cave Story DSiware, and couldn't find a way to do it.

If someone does know a way though, I'm all ears.

3DS are bound by model/firmware, not IP.
The resident evil demo is pretty good, about 10-15 minutes long, and I'm going to buy the game on release now.
Check this out, guys

Wondering if we'll start seeing Nintendo make a network like the PSN/XBL

I really hope so.
I hope so too, the recent Mario Kart and Skyward sword issues really highlight how farcical Nintendo is when it comes to that. I didn't mind much when the DS and Wii first came out but the world has moved on a a lot and Nintendo really needs to catch up in that respect. They have been making good progress so far with the 3DS but it's all still pretty basic.
Thats probably just the new "This game has paid DLC" logo.
Oh, also , mario kart says "connecting to Nintendo Network" when you go online, so maybe thats something to do with it.

Uhh... yeah, I don't now how they solved that for the rest of the world, but they actually did make a patch for it for europe. You get it in the wii shop channel.
Well i think everywhere has the channel now, but originally in Japan you had to send of your SD card or whole Wii to nintendo to get them to fix it.

It's nice that they can do it that way but it's hardly great. First you have to know about or encounter the glitch to go into the shop and download the channel and run it. As opposed to the game just auto patching and you carrying on oblivious.

Also I don't believe they never offered that option for Metroid Other M.

I just find it stupid they seem to have left themselves in the same situation again with the 3DS. It would be really simple just to patch Mario Kart. Perhaps they can do some workaround like they did on the Wii with the 3DS but just can't be bothered since it's not a game breaking glitch.

The Nintendo Network only appears in Europe. In America it just says connecting to the internet for some reason. So i guess this will probably turn out to be nothing interesting.
The Resident Evil: Revelations demo is boring to me actually. I won't buy the game and Capcom doesn't deserve my money anyway.

Waiting still
Brother threw an Xbox controller at my 3DS. Broke the Top Screen, plus damaged other parts..

Only the Screen seems broken though, theres a black smudge, and the right side of the screen is cracked a little, 3D wont work.
Gotta ship to Nintendo now -.-

what is he, 4?
Also nintendo confirmed the nintendo network logo is nothing special. It's just a rebranding of the Nintendo Wifi connection thing that was on all those wii/ds games.

You'd think so.. 18, going on 19, actually..

Quote:Word of a "Nintendo Network" leaked out last week from dummy boxes for Theatrhythm Final Fantasy and Dynasty Warriors VS. Today, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata detailed the new initiative to investors at an earnings briefing.

Nintendo Network is the name of Nintendo's new network platform. It will be used on 3DS and Wii U.

Different from the current Wi-Fi Connection service, Nintendo Network is a wholly inclusive network platform that will offer such things as communication amongst users and sales of digital content.

We already saw some elements of Nintendo Network in Mario Kart 7's "Communities."

Nintendo's Tobidasu Purikura photo decoration app, released as a 3DS download on December 27, will be the first title that will offer paid add-on content. Paid content will be available for this title in the near future, Iwata said.

For package software, Square Enix's Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, due for release on February 16, is expected be the first game to offer download content sales. Players will be able to purchase music tracks.

Nintendo is also considering digital distribution for package software. This concept was built into the design 3DS, said Iwata, and the infrastructure is already in place. The same infrastructure will be prepared for the Wii U.

Iwata stressed, however, that Nintendo has not decided on concrete timing for starting digital download sales for package software. The decision will be made by taking into consideration the relationship with retailers and wholesalers, and consumer concerns regarding memory card capacity.

Wii U will have a personal account system that will be compatible with Nintendo Network, Iwata also announced. With this, Nintendo believs it will improve the ease with which multiple family members can use the system.

Games and DLC content attached to accounts rather than hardware? Hopefully it can come to the 3DS as well.

Yay, i guess.
Kirov Wrote:Games and DLC content attached to accounts rather than hardware? Hopefully it can come to the 3DS as well.

I'm going to be pessimistic here, but nowhere does it say that, just that you can have multiple accounts one system. At no point did it mention that it would at any point be anything like attaching Games/DLC to an account that you can use on anything other than the one machine.
Apparently they may change the name of the Wii U. http://wiiublog.com/blog/2012/1/27/ninte...wii-u.html

I hope they do. "Wii U" is the stupidest console name I've ever heard.
