World of Warcraft players, come in!
Dark Link Wrote:You'll be waiting a long time for the 64-bit client...
"The 64-bit client is being distributed separately from the PTR as it is not yet supported for use with World of Warcraft."

Chances are, it won't be ready until MoP...

hopefully not, since the 32bit option is available since patch 4.3.

we will see.

And then MoP hits, with Feral Druids being more hybridy than before, and the cycle begins anew!

Yeah, I hope it won't be too long, because I run a 64-bit OS myself and I would LOVE to get more performance out of the game.

idk if anyone noticed this:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/...682?page=1

Quote:With the 4.3.2 patch we’ll be testing some new file optimization tech. As you may be aware, with previous major expansion patches (2.0, 3.0, 4.0, etc.) we’ve carried out a time-consuming process to reorganize the game files currently installed on your hard drive to integrate all previous patch files, essentially ‘cleaning up’ what’s on your computer and reducing the full installation size. This process used to require an amount of free hard drive space double that of the entire installation size to complete, which is why we’ve reserved them for large expansion-sized patches.

The new tech we’re testing with the 4.3.2 PTR will process these cleanups with no additional hard drive space required beyond what the patch is adding. Because of that you may see them appear more frequently with patches.

While the cleanup is occurring you’ll see a specific message on the launcher informing you the process is currently taking place. If you encounter any issues with the new process please be sure to visit our support site at http://www.battle.net/support/

Kodiack Wrote:From what I've gathered this seems to be consolidating files more than anything else, such as increasing framerates. It may slightly improve load times or something of the sort, although the biggest thing it seems to have going for it is the large cleanup it's performing on the way the MPQs are stored.

Currently on live (excluding Data\Cache) there are 84 files and 8 folders in the Data folder totaling 15.3 GB. On the PTR the Data folder is only 47 files and 6 folders adding up to 14.7 GB (once again, these numbers exclude Data\Cache).

The Data\Cache folder on live is 10.4 GB spread across 62 files and the localization (enUS) folder. On the PTR, it's 7.23 GB with 104 files and the localization folder. It's also worth noting that on PTR most of the files are sound cache files, while on live there are many patch-base files. I'm not sure whether that would be the same for everyone, though, so take that with a grain of salt.

In the end, this "optimization" process seems to be aimed at trimming out some of the fat. Players running WoW off of solid state drives are probably the ones that will find the smaller file sizes most exciting.

looking foward for this update, since im running wow on a SSD and its already awesome Big Grin

Congratulations to Имбос of Exorsus for completing Fangs of the Father. He now has both Golad, Twilight of Aspects and Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages. We will likely start to see more of the daggers appear in the next few days.

Almost 4GB freed up is really nice IMO.

Also, that rogue does NOT deserve any grats. He server xferred 3 times to intentionally reset his raid lockout for the clusters / gems.

My Rogue CL buddy is still 2 weeks out from his Legendary.

I know, there was some brazilian players doing it too.

with the free transfer between brazilian realms, they would transfer and do 6-8 DS per week...

wow I haven't even gotten to stage 2 yet.... shows the difference in speed of 10 and 25. I've done full clears since week 1

Yeah, it's a bit disheartening, but what can you do? Blizz's main focus will always be 25m raiding Sad
Also have fun with stage 2. Rogue CL buddy completely flipped the hell out and lost it when he saw the mission you had to do for the 2nd part. It was pretty hilarious reading his reaction and fails in raid.
Plus it gave me something to do while I was having fun trying out the new "Glitch through Walls" exploit. YOU CAN'T STOP US BLIZZARD!

inc Dragon Soul nerf:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/blog/4326384..._2012#blog

Quote:During the scheduled server maintenance on the week of January 31, the Dragon Soul raid will become enveloped by the “Power of the Aspects” spell, reducing the health and damage dealt of all enemies in the raid by 5%. This spell will grow progressively stronger over time to reduce the difficulty and make the encounters more accessible. The spell will affect both normal and Heroic difficulties, but it will not affect the Looking for Raid difficulty.

The spell can also be disabled by talking to Lord Afrasastrasz at the beginning of Dragon Soul, if a raid wishes to attempt the encounters without the aid of the Dragon Aspects.

For those of you who raided in Firelands and/or Icecrown you’re no doubt aware that as time goes on we want to keep people progressing by adjusting the difficulty. For any number of reasons a group may be having difficulty on a specific encounter each week, and our intent in adjusting the content is to ensure the ability to keep progressing, enjoying the content, and gearing up. With Icecrown we progressively buffed the players, and while this slow progression (and ability to opt-out of the buff) were both beneficial, it led to an expectation of your characters power, and once you left the raid you could certainly feel less effective. For Firelands we attempted to fix that by nerfing the content instead of buffing players, but we nerfed the content difficulty all at one time, which was counterproductive for players who really didn’t need as severe a change as we made. With Dragon Soul we’re attempting to do the best of both by having a progressive nerf to the content, keeping player power constant while providing small increases in assistance over a long period of time, as well as allowing players to opt-out of the assistance by speaking to Lord Afrasastrasz.

We hope you continue to enjoy Dragon Soul, and that these changes encourage you to attempt a higher difficulty, or just keep pushing to down that next boss.

Good thing it is a la ICC style, where you can cancell the buff/debuff.

btw, anyone here have a rogue I can buy/use? Sad no one wants to farm heavy junkbox for me, and im almost done farming goblins reputation for the insane title

Funny thing about that. I made a topic about a few "Hidden Datamine" changes in 4.3.2 on my guild forums a couple days ago. People didn't really put too much thought into it until that announcement came in. Much lulz were had from me.

Exact quote of my post
Haseo Wrote:1st Link is supposedly an "ICC Buff" for Dragon Soul, but instead of the players getting buffed, the damage AND Health of enemies gets nerfed by 5/10/15/20/25/30/35% respectively.

The "Debuff" is called "Power of the Aspects"

http://www.wowhead.com/spell=109257#see-also-other

2nd link is datamined changes from WoWhead. whether these will make it into live or not, we don't know as Blizzard has yet to mention any of these changes.

Sucks you can't trade the boxes through other realms, otherwise I'd help ya.
Also, fixed...

They nerfed the droprate of the boxes, my friend said he got 30 boxes in 1 hour of farming :S.
I'm going to lvl a rogue now, with heirlooms+guild perks it will be easy to get one to lvl 70 just to farm the boxes

btw, the nerfs will be progressive as how bashiok says:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/...age=10#182

bashiok Wrote:Well the nerfs are going to be progressive enough, as I said, I don't see a 5% change being a big enough change for Raid Finder players to suddenly start clearing Normal. We also don't know where we'll end up. We plan to increase the spell by 5% about every month, but we're not sure if we'll need to. If we see a lot of people able to keep progressing and downing bosses, maybe 5% is all we need. It's going to be watching completion numbers and seeing where that gets us. We're not assuming we'll need to go as far as we did with ICC. It's not going to be automatic, our hand is on the dial.

bashiok Wrote:The increase is not automatic or set in its frequency. We will be manually controlling when it increases, if at all. It will be completely based on how many people we see able to complete the raid, and our decision to increase it or not.
