Largest Maplestory hacking website being sued by Nexon America and Nexon Korea Corp.
Viaje Wrote:Though I know it's just an example of what hacking a game can do in general, I found it amusing since, being a 2D game, Maple doesn't have any walls to see "through" and maps are fully visible.
Well, I guess they mean those player could teleport into unreleased maps or restricted maps for this.

Or they're just trying to be funny.

They should drop all charges under the condition that all the hackers must work for Maple to improve it's security, let the admins who have no coding talent suffer.

Indeed; they managed to get into PVP (a) PVP area(s) before official release.

lol, Some of these people were making around half a million a year from this (or so they say), I highly doubt they would conform with a regular wage or a regular job. I really hope they don't have to pay a fine for this because they'd just pay and keep with their sh1t. Give them a year in jail Rolleyes

Well from skimming the thread it's a civil suit, but can they really use the illicit funds to pay their fines?

lulz@ all the apologists for the defendants, acting like this isn't entirely justified and shouldn't have happened a long time ago.

This is a bit unnerving actually, that a few SP regulars seem to be on first-name basis with a major hacker who apparently also supplies hacks to the Chinese gold-site hackers, the same ones who have been ripping through many thousands of accounts since August.

The question is though if they are US base and are not paying taxes added onto this how bad it could it be for them? My step-father is a lawyer and my mother is a paralegal both in civil cases. I showed them this info and they said if NEXON wins on all accounts it's very very possible there will be some jail time in there. Further more if they really haven't paid taxes the IRS will be on their case with another trail which will then move them to federal prison. According to them even if you're a minor and you gain x amount of money you HAVE to pay some to the government. No exceptions.

I'm just finding it amusing that there is always a lawyer associated with Nexon or the defendant that has a name which is some variant of Corn.

Once again it's where they live if they are outside of the united states because treaties could protect them. IRS honor's that but the local government(state) doesn't. If they are within the united states and they look into overseas banking it's a frekin long difficult process and you have to reflect your w2's that you're making a minimum of 6 figures, just from wages. Swedish bank accounts it's a minimum of 7 figures. In other words he wouldnt be able to go to an off shore bank without presenting IRS documentation.

Knowing a name isn't being on a first-name basis with someone any more than everyone here Knows Justin Bieber personally.
