SaptaZapta Wrote:"In the works" is nice. When will it be finished? After all the 2x events, of course, during which we will have to, as bobbort put it, train in garbage places.

Also the 2x drop... she'll report it... might be fixed in time to give us two days of 2x drop out of a promised 2 months. But who's counting?

"In the works" reminds me of something...
Isn't a CWKPQ fix "in the works" as well?
I'm just saying.

CWKPQ IS NOWHERE NEAR AS THREATENING AS FAMILIAR EDITS.

True that.
I was, in all seriousness, just saying that a lot of things can be "in the works" and still jackshit gets done on them.

CWKPQ is down because something inside was being abused to cause channel crashes, thus being used for duping.

And it's taken them how long to fix it now.
6 months?
More?

Because duping isn't something you can just "fix". It requires most likely a complete overhaul of how the server reacts when a channel goes down and must be tweaked so that it not only can't be abused but also so it doesn't interfere with normal gameplay. As you can imagine this is an extremely complex problem for Nexon.

Of course. Just because they are "24/7" doesn't mean they ever set foot pixel out of FM1 or know how to identify "abusive behaviors" other than what spambots do. They don't read smegas either and/or they can't tell a legit equip from a hacked one.

It's Nexon we're talking guys.

Not Microsoft.

I mean, they haven't even tried to fix channel crashing and/or SC duping to my knowledge.
Why does CWKPQ get their inept attention?

And maybe hire some people who actually play MapleStory on a regular basis. I would work for Nexon for minimum wage if it meant telling them what the hell is wrong with their own game. What on earth are they even doing over there? Don't they get 90% of the updates from Korea and just translate them to English... fix a few things and whatnot?
Yeah, that is pretty much accurate.

Most of Nexon America is focused on Marketing / other ventures (ex. social games, etc.) with obviously a team that handles the technical upkeep of servers.

I don't believe there are any (or a VERY limited number) of development personnel in America.

Obviously, Nexon's structure hinders their progress. But this is the structure they've chosen, and there's not too much we can do about that. Sending everything to Korea elongates the process of fixing bugs / major crises. And you are correct, there is a limited number of knowledgeable personnel in that American office. In my opinion, this hurts them, but once again - the $$$ is still coming in...

They don't need to fix duping to bring CWKPQ back up. They just need to fix whatever bug it is in it that causes the channel to crash.
They've blocked countless crash methods already, without touching the core problem of mini-rollbacks and duping. They could have done that for CWKPQ. Somehow it's their lowest priority.

If they cared, they would close MTS right now and not let any world xfers go through until they wipe the items

Pretty much this. They've done it before so I don't see why they can't do it again.

I agree that shutting down the MTS & world xfers is the best thing they could do right now. Even better, maybe shutdown the game to address all the issues at once. But the truth is that the head honchos need the business going as close to 24/7 as possible. Any sort of shutdown means loss of revenue, no matter what (in their eyes).

Additionally, Nexon just came back to work 2 days ago. Perhaps they haven't identified the issue as "severe enough" just yet.

They are lagging behind.

if i were nexon, i would wait till people charge NX to get some of the hacked gears then get rid of them later

oop, read it wrong. But IMO a complete shutdown would be just as good, if not better, seeing as there are multiple issues going on.

 Customer Service assistant supervisor

lol ridiculous. By looking at he job opportunities, their tech department is pretty goddam weak at the moment, and their customer service is limited to reading off the FAQ's. lolokay

So basically, marketing jobs, some technical server up-keep, and a Customer Service manager job that's been posted for like 2 years now.

That's Nexon.
