Was cool actually be able to see Mercedes' special animation when she advanced, does Phantom auto-advance too? Or does he go through job advancement quests?

it might been mentioned but i was wondering are phantom weapons 1h or 2h? i know they use a cane and cards but mercedes uses bows in one hand and arrows in the other and the bow is able to be scrolled with 2h. wondering what i should do with my 2h 50s.
