Corazon Wrote:Wonder if those responsible for the hack's creations think themselves as MapleStory's "messiah", that they feel they are liberating it from the "evil" Nexon so that another company can take over, one that they can bully and threaten into playing favoritism?
I mean think about it: If Nexon, a company as big as they are, were brought down by the hackers with a selfish and greedy desire, then the next company who wanted to do better would be pressured to obey their commands via the fact that they brought down Nexon through sheer community power.
Either that, or they could be aiming to bring it down permanently. Why though, I have no idea.
Do they feel that a game is worthless, and intend to show that it's better to replace it with drugs, sex, and violence?
Are they trying to promote another game? If so, what about this other game is so great that they need to have a show of cyberterrorism?
Is it that they want to flex their internet muscle so they can rule the internet?
So many questions. Many are empty shots. But one thing's clear: these guys had a motive to do this. It's obvious by their "hatred" of MapleStory, Mabinogi, and any game Nexon displays. But what if the hatred extends beyond that? What if, deep down, they feel a hatred that humans can't comprehend?
While I don't agree with Nexon's policy, I also don't agree that everyone else's fun should be ruined because someone decided to give a horde of monkeys the tools of destruction and mayhem.
Because obviously people writing/coding these hacks, finding these gaps in security have pineapple all to do with their lifes, and if they are older than the age of 20 they are the real losers. devoting their life to fucking up a game.. For what? internet fame? money? Nexon on the other hand? people still buy nx, people still play the game. Still winning imo? making a fuckload more than hackers, sad thing is some hackers are very talented, whats stopping them from using those skills to create a better game? or even work for companies such as nexon/blizzard?
I don't think i will ever understand the fucked up thought process one has to have to decide hacking a game is the way to "play" it.

That's what the priv hack coders on D2 did; they told you straight up the thing is a keylogger and if you ever screw them they will screw you 1000x harder, at least the tppk/wt'fpk coders did that. And they still made a killing; I was friends with the main distributor, and between that and selling items on ebay he made over 150K a year, and that was after splitting takes with 4 other people. So yeah, they do make a ton of money off of these things, they don't give a damn about the company, but still, from a business standpoint, allowing the stuff to go public is completely counterproductive.

It's mainly done in order for it to get patched quickly.
Similar to the coin exploit when it was released to the public.

Releasing a public method is done to block other hackers, not to directly benefit them as a whole.
It's making a secret weapon public so your competition no longer has exclusive access to it while you keep your own methods under lock and key. Theirs gets blocked, yours doesn't, suddenly you're the only one who can do it. You win.

Use someone as a mule of sorts to buy it, then pick it apart and release it publicly?
The other thing would obviously be, they would need to thoroughly examine it to make sure making it public wouldn't lead to their OWN hack getting patched...

Saw people using this at blue ribbon pigs. Geez, it isn't easy enough to level already?
As for my friends, turns out they had AFK'd overnight in hopes to keep the map to train, and weren't partied with the guy using familiar hacks. The guy using it is in alliance, not directly in the guild, and they don't really care about it... but at least they weren't benefitting from it (or had knowledge of it as it was happening).

You see someone do it, you test a method to do it yourself, you release it public so it's no longer their private toy.
If you're doing something completely different, and/or in a way that no one else can see, you don't have to worry about them doing the same to you.
It's the visible stuff that is easiest to reverse and release.
Additionally if you flood the world with hundreds of people doing X, it can make it that much harder for anyone else to realize you're doing Y. If everyone is leveling super fast for example and you suddenly do the same, it's easy to assume you did it the same way as everyone else.

I just hope Nexon comes back soon and shut the whole game down for enough time to sort out who "trained" at LHC during the last two weeks. Anyone at a boosted map, a few months worth of bans, anyone hacking/leeching perma'd for good. I doubt any non boosted maps have been available during that time, so it should not be all that tricky. Might be that would be enough to scare the scumbags into playing by the rules for a while.
Then again we all know they do not keep such logs, and if they do, they can't use them effectivly.

Doubt they will ban people training on glitched spawn, that would mean banning 95% of the active high level community, at least in Yellonde

I would not mind, you would have to be an idiot to miss what boosting is about and how it violates the rules. But yea, the main thing would to patch hacks, ban hackers and leechers and then figure out what the hell to do about LHC and familiars. Maybe a slap on the wrist for the booster trainers (and much worse for the other kind) would be enough.

All the other coin exploits involve turning in a item(usually not the correct one) to the npc to receive coins.
Afaik there are no legend events that do that, without having a cooldown or limit of some sort.

I believe the lucky cakes event has no limits.

They only brought Mabinogi back up 20 minutes ago, it's been down for nearly 48 hours while they worked on it's disaster.
Maple might be next, or they just might not care.
