This is the same case with heterosexualty, and can be seen in the main undercurrent within the internet community for "boobs," pictures of boobs, "pics or it didn't happen," women -> kitchen, etc. The only reason it seems like the LGBT 10% is loud is because it's 10% of the discussion, and people more easily recognize and remember anything in a minority. In other words, we're just as loud as you, but people take notice because there aren't as many of us as you. Sorry to be grouping in that previous sentence but I couldn't think of any better way to phrase it.
