Mercedes SP Build.

Just got to fourth job and wondering how the heck you fit all these moves on your configuration. As an I/L there isn't too much to clog the keyboard, but this. omg. I'm not even sure what replaces what anymore. Could someone help me with the skill positioning? Which ones can I remove from the configs? Thanks @_@

Alt = Leaf Tornado
End = Gust Dive.

Oh my...

I noticed you don't have HKD on there. Does Moonsault replace that? And is Strike Dualshot particularly useful in fourth job, or does Ishtar's Ring do the job?

HKD gets replaced by Moonsault. Strike Dualshot is still great as it's your only really spammable multitarget aside from rushing, and you can shoot in mid-air.

How in the world is your hand positioned for that layout?

Here's mine:[Image: loXAf.jpg]

A = Leaf Tornado.

My left had is positioned on the home keys (asdf) and spacebar.

WHAT

and that was the one skill i wass planning on NOT maxing... Rolleyes sucks. still lvl 1 an i like cross piercing better for training the strike dual shot. Guess ima not max summon or the dive. ill see how they do at lvl 16.

From seeing some of his other layouts, I'm fairly convinced that he has 3 hands, each with 7 fingers.

And that's why you don't ask other people anything relating to key layouts, because it's ALWAYS going to be not what you are used to.

Trying to figure out what the deal is with 3rd job attacks. In 2nd it was pretty easy - use Piercing to do damage, Rising Rush to mob stuff together, and Parting Shot to add damage to RR.

So far what I'm thinking of 3rd is
- Stunning Strikes: 1-4 target mobbing [+4% per target per point]
- Leap Tornado: 5+ target mobbing [+8% per target per point]
- Unicorn Spike: use it when it's not on cooldown [+10% per target per point]
- Gust Dive: if you get bored of Rising Rush, macro this with Leaf Tornado [+9% per target per point]
- Aerial Barrage: combo with Rising Rush instead of Parting Shot [+6% per target per point]

If I'm not mistaken, Stunning Strikes is worse than Leaf Tornado maxed, since it doesn't do more damage anymore. Whereas Tornado+Gust Dive is gonna do a lot of damage, just requires more than sitting there pressing the button like Stunning Strikes.

Sorry for using the GMS names guys they're just better
except Leap Tornado.

Banished from this thread.

Gust Dive is useless.
High Kick Demo should only be used on flat platforms.
Strike Dualshot for everything else.
Leap Tornado is used for whenever you're in a situation with a rope such as MP3.
Unicorn Spike for whenever the f`uck you want.

The thing with Strike Dualshot is that it's faster to cast and easier too.

True I guess, you need to hit 2 keys per 2 Leap Tornados. Leap Tornado has way better vertical range though, eg. you can hit both rows of Pirates at once.

I haven't trained anywhere with ropes, what do you do, jump off and cast them as you fall?

but comboing attacks like a dual blade is cool man.

When you use Updraft or whatever you'll hang in the air for about a second. You can use that time to cast Leap Tornado. Make sure it's in a macro too.

Every time I do Updraft, Glide Blast, Leap Tornado, and Gust Dive in a row, I feel like a pimp.

Too bad it only works when moving from higher to lower platforms.

If you macro Leap Tornado and Gust Dive, and manage to hit the macro while flying, it'll sometimes cast Gust Dive after you land. Which is pretty fun.

More fiddling with Gust Dive has convinced me the pause at the start, before it moves, is what makes it bad.

edit: found 2 different methods that push you the same distance.
 1st: jump, glide blast, leap tornado
 2nd: jump, leap tornado, dive rush
2nd is easier to cast cause it's just a macro, and does more damage. I think dive rush might behave silly without the platform though.

If I had fraps I'd have done it up properly.

Bonus edit: pineappleing lol. If you try to leap tornado onto the event platform, you can cast it on the ground.

--> jump right

But... if you have Dive Rush in the macro...

The 1st one was almost impossible to do consistently on KMS but if you do it correctly, there's no loss of horizontal movement speed.
2nd one is what everyone should be doing with Rolling Moonsault for invincibility frames. Charge Drive links with Gust Drive to cut some delay out. Otherwise, you shouldn't be using Gust Drive unless you need it to reach a platform.

Strike Dualshot is better than Leap Tornado for lower targets because it has better DPS. Leap Tornado requires you to jump and its delay is longer. At Pirates, you have to time it after the max of your jump, otherwise it brings you up a platform for example

When I was at pirates, I would jump down from an above platform and leap tornado, hitting both platforms. Then I'd use it again to reach the platform above me. Really helped to kill off large mobs easily when I didn't want to use strike dualshot.

I'm pretty sure I also have ~20 sp saved up atm. I really need to get some owls because these books are a peach to find.

Why I don't like Strike Dualshot:
Leaf Tornado.

Aerial Kick Thunderfuck.

Strike Dualshot.

It's just so.. uninspired.

I'm sure you'll like 4th job with Rolling Moonsault then.

Also for those wondering about where I place my hands. I keep my fingers on the area around Shift, Z, A, X, S, Alt.

I've been wondering why it's in a macro... care to explain? :O
