If you don't mind lower booster, it doesn't really matter. Bomb isn't worth it though.

Gunslinger:

Which skills are replaced at later levels + approximate level needed to replace

i.e. Strafe level 1~ replaces double shot
TT 1 replaced L7
Blast replaces powerstrike

etc
Reply
The only commonly replaced skill is double fire and fake shot, which is replaced by level 1+ triple fire and 4 hit cooling.

DeeD Wrote:How long does Homing last? I saw the skill table and it doesn't mention how long the effect lasts. Does increasing points into only increase MP use and damage? I mean I understand how you'll want to max it for Advanced Homing but can you just leave it at lvl 1 until the very end since its only going to increase damage slightly?

Anyone come up with an answer for this yet?

What about gaviota and air strike.

Reason I'm asking is I'm looking for the skillbuild that will last through to 4th job and beyond, not just have benefits at the current job and then you ditch the skill later on. Being an F/P, I'm relating it to

- Poison breath/brace helps a lot during 5x~7x but is completely replaced at 3rd job with mist

- Composition is your best bossing skill at 3rd but paralyze will completely replace it in 4th

^Those skills you can live without. I'm not saying like to ditch double shot in 2nd because strafe replaces it as double shot is an "essential" skill to get through 2nd job.

Rephrased question: What skills can be dropped during certain jobs [1st, 2nd, 3rd] and aren't really necessary as a skill at a higher level job will completely replace it or make it pretty much useless.

Thinking of following this skill build

Quote:• 20/20 Triple Fire [MAX]
• 30/30 Fire Burner [MAX]
• 26/30 Cooling Effect
• 30/30 Octopus [MAX]
• 15/30 Gaviota
• 30/30 Homing [MAX]

if Air strike will completely get rid of gaviota, which I think it will. I don't believe more gaviota is necessary except to help through 3rd job and max burning can be used until level 200.

Troofs troofs, forgot about those.

It's not really that gaviota gets replaced by air strike as they're two different attacks for different things but i'd say gaviota gets replaced by support octo if anything. Gaviota sucks by itself anyway, i won't use it much in 3rd job.

So you can use airstrike in combination with gaviota, and you'll have too look intently to notice which one is the odd one out?

That's what I plan to do if Gaviota isn't that useful and probably never gonna be used in 4th job with support octo + air strike. Rather have skills that help until level 200 over ones that help for the current job and replcaed later [that are not essential to that job].

Edit: I think you [person writing the guides and answering lots of questions] said you only use cooling for freeze, not damage, am i right? Just wanna check.

Look at the newest post in the gunslinger guide to find why burner is an excellent choice of skill.

well, if it's how you play, then go max fire burner. although, if you plan to use it as an attack, you'll need to get the blaze capsules so it does the full 160% dmg instead of 80%, unless i'm missing something here. i plan to max everything besides fire burner, leaving it at 11 and using Cooling Effect(or w/e it's called now).

it's a matter of preference. as for Takebacker, he's gonna say Fire Burner's the way to go. >.<

I don't really get how some Gunslinger skills have no maximum range? Which skills are they, and what does that mean?
Reply
That's minimum range, and that means they can be used on a monster that's right in front of you as opposed to meleeing.

If I may add to that, a helpful comparison would be the range at which archers swing their bow/xbow rather than shoot, or when Assassins punch instead of throw. Just like how Arrow Rain/Eruption for archers ignores that range, so too do a number of Gunslinger skills.
Reply
What are the skills that ignore minimum range?
And how do their maximum range compare to sins / archers?
