Foundry is quite a tough map with balanced teams, had a match last over an hour yesterday. At least I got the Dead Heat achievement and then some.

The Australian Christmas 2011 update in a nutshell based on what I've seen of the weapons:

Pomson 6000
A Righteous Bison that also drains UberCharge and Cloak from Medics and Spies. Complete with only four shots. I've heard it referred to as "brain-dead", since you can just spam it down a choke point and drain, drain, drain. The fact that it never runs out of ammo does not help.

Eureka Effect
Alt-fire only works with the weapon out, but teleporting back to spawn nets you full health and ammo/metal. There's a short taunt before you actually teleport.

Phlogistinator
Takes around 200 Fire damage to charge, alt-fire makes you taunt, at which point you are fully healed and gain crits for 10 seconds. While taunt-activating, you gain 90% damage reduction. However, Mmmph crits only affect the Phlogistinator, and not any other weapon you have.

Manmelter
Infinite-ammo flare gun with the capability to extinguish teammates since the Phlogistinator can't. Unfortunately, the weapon can only crit through extinguishing, and doesn't even mini-crit on already-burning enemies.

Third Degree
It's okay. Situational, like all weapons should be. Get a good two or three whacks on someone being healed, and you kill their Medic. Or you could give those whacks to the Medic and the patient is damaged as well.

Spy-Cicle
This weapon is ridiculous in both ways. It's Overpowered in the fact that it uses Your Eternal Reward's silent stabbing AND makes you completely immune to fire for 2 seconds if you have it out and are set on fire. It's Underpowered in the fact that any Pyro worth his salt is going to shotgun you after you stop taking fire damage. Or he could just set you on fire again two seconds later. And you lose your knife for fifteen seconds. Since I don't play Spy ever, I'm not sure which it is, if it's anything at all.

Holiday Punch
It's a Knife-Sandman combo for the Heavy. Punch a guy in the back and they are "stunned" for a few seconds. I really don't see a point to this, except for goofing around. Because, A. when are you ever going to get behind someone as a Heavy, and B. Why don't you just Minigun/Shotgun them to death instead?

Wrap Assassin
Basically, it's a Sandman that causes bleed instead of stunning, and you can't improve the effect by hitting at longer distances. It's good if you can aim the Sandman well, but crap otherwise.

Seeing two Heavies punch each other then proceed to do the Schadenfreude taunt is quite amusing. But I see the gloves as a pure novelty item really, at least the other two have some genuine uses.

The best part about the new update is the smissmas lights on all the cables. Makes 2Fort almost pleasant now.

well now i've magically been improving a lot and i'm quickly outgrowing pub servers (not valve servers, my god those are a joke). does anyone have an actual server with decent people that i could regular?

and is there any way i could improve my soldier at all? i actually aim really well (in terms of predicting where to shoot...obviously) except for airshots, which i'm very mediocre at. my only weaknesses are the situational ones; i'm terrible at setting up rocket jump ambushes, especially when i'm ubered, and whenever i have to switch to shotgun i seem to do it way too late every time.

also, my friend from Leviathan Gaming is trying to get me to play competitive lol

You still play 2Fort regularly? I think I play that CTF map the least, tied with Turbine, but behind Double Cross and Well. Never played CTF Hyrdro though. The servers I'm on never seem to play Hydro, and CTF Sawmill is on very very rare occasions.

I like CTF but not 2Fort. The funny thing about 2Fort is everyone says they don’t like it yet it’s always there. I will never understand the appeal of 24/7 2Fort servers.

Since we are on the subject of CTF if anyone has some good CTF server recommendations I would be glad to hear them.

Wish I knew. My favorite servers are more about capture points and payloads. No love for Hydro. Long ass stalemates is what I always hear about the map.

Holiday event seems to be favoring me. Thanks to drops (ie luck with Spycicle) and offers; I've been getting 1 hat per day this week without spending a dime on the game.

At this pace, I might actually start using my leftovers to buy keys and get into the whole selling crap deal.

Some guy was handing out gifts for that silly badge and I managed to get a couple of weps a secret saxton and an Attendant, pretty pleased about that since I didn’t have one.
