DotA2 - Original Thread

Many people expect Dota 2 to be F2P, given TF2's success with the model. It's the model that makes the most sense, if done right, especially given the competition. There will probably be hats or a hat equivalent.

Announcer-packs, custom-skins, etc.
Although i'd prefer it to be atleast 10€ to play, so people can't just make a new steam account if they pineapple up their rating...

That was my thought as well, a nice handful of problems can be solved with a tiny flat cost of like ten bucks.

I could see Valve pushing it as a f2p to advertise their f2p tab on Steam, but since it's such a different game than LoL, I'm not sure if it's worth doing. The playerbase Valve's aiming for would probably rather pay up front rather than over time yeah?

One thing is sure, if they try to sell heroes, they just shot themselves in the foot and people will return to WC3 dota.
And it ruins any competitive side of the game.

I'm still having a lot of issues with last-hitting/denying. Something about it feels off. Also some of my favorite ward spots don't seem to work anymore.

Lately i lose a lot, even if i'm playing very well. Pisses me off quite honestly.
Be pudge, be forced to 'babysit' AM, still do okay, land crazy hooks, lose horribly because AM used his gold on glasscannon only items .-. They had a lina that nuked him together with dragon knight without a problem when the fights started..

It was a good idea not to go into real games for me yet. I'm still way out of it, even 8 hours of practice still hasn't gotten me back into the groove. I need some re-training by a peer :C

Man i can't wait for people like HexOr to start playing a lot so we can get some epic DotA2 vids.

Pub match-making is going to make me lose my mind, i need a 5-person premade team soon or i'll flip tables.
I can play all roles in DotA but i prefer initiators/gankers/semi-carries..
I hate either having a great early-game and then the team loses the game, or even just a single person. Or having a horrible early-game because of a team-mate as well.

I don't even know why I bother playing support in pubs. Carry is farming bottom lane, so I ward the bottom jungle. Carry leaves to go gank. Thanks for wasting my time and gold. I have so many opportunities to farm that I should just pick a carry instead. Only problem with that is that half the team is already playing hard carries. I played a few games a couple days ago with a premade group of friends and we did great even though most of us were individually terrible. Voice communication and teammates that actually follow directions make a huge difference.

Looks like someone is used to LoL's gankfesting.

DotA is about ricing at the moment.
I was playing brood, had 2k gold, i thought meh i'll farm and keep pushing, i get 3 towers bottom and almost get their rax until i have to gtfo, i have 4.5k gold and i quickly farm a bfly ontop of my already finished vanguard.

MFW the rest of my team which is a super defensive team has been feeding the enemy axe to the point where he can win vs me in 1v1 when i have my ulti and bfly and vanguard.

PUBS ARE DRIVING ME INSANE, I'M GONNA START JUST PICKING PUBSTOMPING HEROES, SERIOUSLY.
pineapple playing good roles that help your team and split-push when they have an early-game team and defending your tower is pointless, just gonna farm. pineapple helping teammates that need it, just gonna farm and gank. pineapple PUBS.
Or atleast give me an ability to play captain's mode, alot of the noobs will stick to all-pick -_-

Just got Dota2, no idea of any of the meta as HoNs meta is totally different.

So this just happened, i couldnt stop laughing.

I was saying sproink in all chat after every kill and the enemy doom raged so much that it was even more hilarious, i didnt even go "u mad?" just kept saying sproink.
Got i love ench in pubs. Was 3-shotting drow at level 6, 11 and 16 ;D

I just got the invite for this. really sad that hardware survey people don't get invites for friends anymore.
