Can you launch MapleStory from a flashdrive?

Let's say you placed the whole 2.5 GB's of MapleStory on a flashdrive, could you then plug that flashdrive into any computer that doesn't have MapleStory on it and still play it normally?

Short answer: yes.
Long answer: It's possible but you'll need a bunch of stuff like directx already installed. You also need enough privilege for registry access.

It's worth a try but likely you'll run into problems if it's like a computer in the school library or something.

hard drives load large amounts of data about an order of magnitude faster than flash drives. only reason i dont go all flash drives all the time.

could have issues waiting 10 minutes for game to start. it already takes long enough normally on any comp ive ever used.

You got that the other way around. Flash drives are way faster than hard drives. That's why solid state drives are all the fad now.

Flash drives read fast. However, Flash drives are typically connected by USB. USB has a speed limit. The data bottlenecks at the interface. Standard hard drives read a bit slower because they are mechanical. However, they are connected through a much faster bus (SATA). So, it may read slower, but it can transfer the data as fast as it can read it. The USB drive has to wait for the bus to catch up to it. Solid State Drives give you the best of both worlds - Fast read speed, Fast transfer bus.

I have a SSD on my new comp. Booting Windows 7 takes under 15 seconds to finish, but starting up MS still seems to take forever.

The reason for that is because Maple is compressed (wz files). It does a lot of processing after the data is read.
