GMS Server Status Discussion 2012-01

It must be this stupid McAfee then that came with the PC... It apparently though the login port of nexon.net is harmful and suddenly blocked it without telling me anything.

Now to figure how I can whitelist it in this stupid program. It already keeps giving pop-ups "Active the product" and options are: "Go back to activation" or "Remind me later". What kind of options are those?

Is it just me or other people not able to get online? like 30% of the dots have gone Yellow here is hoping it doesn't crash again.....

Honestly, if you have a decent understanding of PCs, you should not be using an antivirus. Those are literally just for people like my grandparents who don't know the difference between a legitimate software update popup and one that is a virus. Something with script blocking and anti-XSS built in to your browser like NoScript is really all you need, and even then that's just there as a cushion to make your life a little bit easier. And Peerblock if you want a placebo effect, I guess.

I haven't used anything at all, ever, and the last time I got a virus was 7 years ago, and that was me getting tricked into DDLing and installing a script on D2, so it was entirely my fault. Everyone needs an experience like that anyway, so they know that if you do something stupid, there will be actual negative consequences. Better to do it young while you don't have a ton of money linked to your computer.

Are the website login servers having issues for everyone now? No matter where I go, I get 502 Bad Gateway when I try to log in anywhere on the Nexon sites. Had to use GameLauncher, which is a pretty big hassle when I'm using like 5 characters to farm well waters for my Cannoneer.

Anyone just disconnect and/or can't access the Maplestory website?

I am having exactly the same problems today as I did on November 12th. The GMS status reflects that Windia server is apparently up and working fine but I cannot log in, I either get the grey "server check" box or the "you have been disconnected from the log-in server please try agin later" box.
Telus is my ISP in western Canada.
I changed my mind about doing the monkeys quest and if I miss today there is no way to get all seven days done which is why I am so annoyed.

Thanks for trying to help but I wish it were that simple. Been there, done that. I also cannot access the maplestory.nexon.net site although I seem to be able to connect to every other site I have tried. I can go to:
http://nexon.net/
but not
http://maplestory.nexon.net/ where I get this message:

The connection has timed out
The server at maplestory.nexon.net is taking too long to respond.

I was consistently lagged out and dc'd during the "event" today, then when I tried to log back in this nonsense started. No changes were made to firewalls/anti-virus etc. It appears to be just like the problems on Nov 12th. I was hoping I was not the only one with this issue - again.

EDIT: Hmm, I am thinking that TELUS users need to start tracking this together.

My ISP is Telus too. Huh.

EDIT: Went through some threads on Basil. Definitely an issue for everyone who has Telus as an ISP.

Random lag everywhere @_@ and Nexon start the ISP block again......
