Unless it's a vegitable pizza, it's makes no sense to consider pizza a "vegitable."
Consistency is important, yes it is.

I sure do love me some American school lunch. It's not even the health that gets me, that stuff really tastes horrible, I used to just starve myself until I got home to eat.

Oh hohohohoho, the school where I go to is somewhat similar to this:

But take away 50% of the Mashed Potatoes and 75% of the Fried Chicken and just throw away the carrots and turn that water bottle into a tiny one aimed for little children.
I really want the Roti bread + France lunch (man, that's good food) + Singaporean lunch.

There are many many different factors that impact it, it's not simply america is lazy. It has to be food that can be bulk'd because of spoiling hazard, lower tax rate, and already piss pour funded schools. Most stuff in the USA is processed because we believe time is money, there is a LOT of factors that need to be changed about school, but no one has the money or the courage to take that responsibility on their shoulders.

I don't see why this is so bad. Sure it promotes eating unhealthy at school but you aren't forced to eat their school lunches. Just bring food from home. It's standard from where I'm from, although we do have healthy options at school too like soup and certain sandwiches.

Well, there you go. A lot of Americans have already shown they can't make good eating decisions, and giving them another rationalisation isn't helpful.

To be fair, I'm extremely picky so I wouldn't eat a single one of those lunches, I just brought stuff from home K-12. Even now I barely eat anything new; the only food type that I'll eat anything of, prepared in almost any way, is seafood. Well, anything but fish eggs. Not because of the taste, because they explode in your mouth like little balloons. That's not cool man.
Also, I know it's terrible that I chuckled at the pissed off looking Kenyan kids, looking at their plate of what looks to be tree bark and leaves. :l

This, minus the banana, salad, bread and vegetables on the meat.
Wow @ the american school lunches. I thought I had it rough.
lol@ Philipines though. Is that, like an inch of fat on top of that fried pork(?). That must be how a heart attack looks like.

On the off topic of school lunches, this reminds me of those sheet "pizzas" (if you could call them that) that were made like 5x5 foot to be reheated then cut into servings for people. That and the corndogs which had an oddly green toned sausage inside which was supposed to be a regular hotdog... I mean, it wasn't rotten, but what kind of processing does that to meat?
Then came high school and the Little Ceasar's contract ours had. Too expensive really for a student's lunch, but it worked until I had a car and could drive over to the nearest subway every other day for a $5 footlong to last two. Then when I started working, I met the glory of the food trucks. Some of that pomegranate is really, really good, and only costs like $1.75. When I realized I had the option of that or the McDonalds down the road a bit, I regretted all the food I accepted simply because I knew it needed to be "cheap". I do still avoid ground beef at those places though due to their reputation.

According to that article, a tablespoon of tomato paste has always been considered a serving of vegetable, and congress only denied the motion of changing what defines a serving to half a cup.
In other words, you've all bought in to sensationalist journalism while criticising Americans about poor health choices.

A lot of the time it is just too easy. I'm American and literally can't turn on the news half the time without facepalming myself.
The article did say that frozen pizza can now be considered a vegetable, which is what I think prompted some of the discussion.

I always brought from home or ate snacks because the actual food was f'ucking terrible.
