I'm enjoying how low-key this show is. The only irksome part of it is having Inga's power reexplained every episode.

Mawaru Penguin Drum episode 18: What an incredible episode.

Really had me worried that someone was going to die in this episode, Momoka is such an amazing character, her desire to burden the fates of these people who had no future so they could live a good life, they are disrespecting her memory so bad it's sickening really, i hope they get shown the errors of their ways.. or die, either way is fine.
Not sure if anyone else picked up on this, but the man who Kanba works for that he met on the train is Masako's father, Tabuki implying that this man is also Kanba's father suggests that they are half-brother and sister, which explains why Masako also has a penguin, and explaining why Mario is somehow involved with the spirit in the hat. Curious.

Persona 4 Episode 6: Nanako being cute as usual, lol Kanji, and even more lol at how reliable Aika's deliveries are. And do watch past the credits for something extra.

Guilty Crown 05: Dat Hanazawa Kana & Taketatsu Ayana. Show is 10x better with them in it.

Boku ha Tomodachi ga sukunai 06: Not sure if huge M, but I just love Yozora. This show is fantastic. Was sitting on the fence earlier, but Yozora has my vote for now.

Mawaru Pengindrum 18: Kanba's voice grates against my ears.

Also, this show has one of the best EDs ever.

I am sooooooo lost with mawaru penguin drum that I don't even know what to ask. How is everyone connected, what's with the penguins, who is the pink haired dude who seems to know everything, what does everyone have against kanba's/sho's family, how is himari tied into all of this. ugggg i'm lost

Unless I missed something, we've got the flash to the other character and Gai's "you look so much like her" (or something like that) line from episode 5. Am curious.

So Himari is/was sick. She died, really. Then the magic penguin hat saved her life at the whim of some crazy supernatural person who wants the "Penguin drum". Penguin hat lady orders Shoma and Kanba to find the penguin drum if they want Himari to continue to live. The penguin drum is supposedly Ringo's diary. Ringo has mad hots for Tabuki, a childhood friend of her dead sister, Momoka. Ringo wants to become Momoka because she has some serious inferiority complex at the start of the show. Tabuki also happens to be Shoma and Kanba's homeroom teacher.

Ringo can't really get with Tabuki because Yuri, another childhood friend of Momoka, goes out with then marries Tabuki. Both Tabuki and Yuri were saved from absurdly pomegranatety childhoods by Momoka, so the marriage is kinda for show. It's a kinda crazy bisexual love-triangle thing, and both Tabuki and Yuri end up getting noodly with Momoka to some extent.

So everyone hates Kanba/Shoma/Himari's parents because they lead a terrorist organization, and in one of their attacks they killed Momoka. Momoka is the only one that died because she took it upon herself to save everyone else since she has some fate-changing powers (which she used to save Tabuki and Yuri) that comes at a sort of "eye for an eye" cost to herself.
The father is probably not actually dead, just missing. So Tabuki damn near kills Himari in an attempt to get Kanba to reveal the location of the father.

The pink haired guy, Sanetoshi, hasn't been very well explained but is some sort of fate/god figure like hat lady. After Himari dies a second time, his medicine brings her back, but Kanba has to keep paying tons of money for it. It was speculated earlier in the thread that he's getting the money from his father.

Then there's Masako, who has/had an interest in Kanba. She's also after the penguin drum for her brother Mario who is in a similar circumstance as Himari. There's also speculation she's the half-sister of the main three.

The penguins are a byproduct of the whole penguin hat/drum thing, and seem to exist as flavor and humor for the show. They're generally helpful to the main three.

So Himari is kind of the accidental centerpiece of this ridiculous, tangled mess of a diary that may or may not control fate, Tabuki, Yuri, and Ringo's desires to bring back/avenge Momoka (who was killed by the main three's parents), and Kanba and Sho's desires to save Himari (Kanba more or less has an incestuous interest in Himari). And then there's the pink haired guy, Sanetoshi.

This show is crazy.

So the parents are alive. Or Kanba's delusional. But I'm thinking alive. Especially with the "I kept the secret" flashback text. Rather than Masako being a half-sibling, perhaps she was originally the sister and Himari's fate was transferred with hers.

I did actually notice that in all or most of the pictures shown through the episode Himari was looking at Sho, or closer to him, with Kanba usually in the back.
So Masako is/was their real sister until Himari 'Stole' her fate. I like how they completely shot down the tones of incest and brought it back in the same episode. lol
So much happened in this episode, wow.

Persona 4 07: This show is SSAD. Not sure if I can stand to finish out the season with how formulaic it is.

Guilty Crown 06: I remember a show once that had a mile long beam saber. I really hope this isn't a repeat of that offense. That being said, that was amazing. Inori, what are you, and why are you so amazing?

Mashiro Iro Symphony 07: hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggggggggg all the girls. Can't believe how amazing Sana is. Sakuno is amazing imouto. Airi doesn't get enough screen time for being primary heroine.

Boku ha Tomodachi ga Sukunai 07: hnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg all the girls. That ending, I feel so bad for both Sena and Yozora. T_______________T It's always been in good fun, but I think Yozora crossed a line, and the result was bad for her too. WHO DO I ROOT FOR? Kobato of course.

The 23rd shall be a glorious day. My Dearest, Oath Sign, Sky's The Limit (best part of Persona), and HIDAMARI SKETCH OP/ED AND BLU RAYS pineapple YEAH.

Also, sucks waiting for Underwater for Ikamusume, but I'm doing it anyways because their squid puns and encode are the best.

Rei is probably the most psychotic of all the characters, he really is disturbing. I'm glad his arc is so short, bleh.

That picture... hmm. Gai makes a good smartass. I enjoyed that.

This season's trend in anime: subverting the "I live alone, so the zany antics of the male-female living together can go uninterrupted" with barely present parents that don't care in the slightest.

Mawaru Penguin Drum episode 20: Feels like this is starting to wrap up nicely, i'm really starting to wonder about the supernatural aspects of this show, such as the spirit in the hat, or the magical fruit, or whatever. It's like the whole series has been from the perspective of the Kiga Group ("You lowlifes who will never amount to anything!") and their views on the Child Broiler and the 'corrupt' society that lets children turn invisible.

Just what exactly are they about? and whats all this nonsense about changing fate? is that just some kind of metaphor? so confusing.

About the episode itself though: Kinda depressing but really nice at the same time. Still trying to make sense of it all :/
