Humans vs. Zombies (HvZ) game

During these past few days, I saw some students here at my school toting Nerf guns and whatnot....

I decided to bite and ask what was going on. It was apparently the Humans vs Zombies (HvZ) game that was being carried out. (Further research indicated this was an extremely popular game on college campuses) I thought it was cool and shyt, so I signed up (and getting my Nerf gun + armband tomorrow).

And I saw two "zombies" on the prowl while I was going back to my dorm in the middle of the night from the library. Holy sh'it, if I were to survive for the rest of the month as a "human" while still being able to go to the library to study, I gotta go into ninja mode just to evade them. Like for example, upon spotting them at a distance, I have to find somewhere to lie stomach-first until they pass by.

Have any of you guys played this game in college? If so, any tips/strategies you'd like to share? I don't want to be zombified so early, lol.

Lol I'm going to the first meeting of my school's Humans vs. Zombies club later today. My roomates and I can't wait to get in on this xD

The game in our school has been going strong since last Friday. Under 500 participants atm (holy sh'it). Right now doing ordinary tasks is nerve racking.

I got my weapon today; its a Nerf gun that has module features, which means I can customize my weapons as I see fit! (When fully put together, my weapon is basically an assault rifle in some ways or form, though its a single-shot weapon ) Also, the weapon feeds from the magazine, and with that I bought extra ammo + extra magazines + a Nerf clamp that allows me to create an extended mag by putting two magazines together. xD

We do it on our campus here, I think we have one of the largest games in the country, or so I've been told. I know we get a few hundred people signing up every quarter.

Just an update on how our game at college is doing.

We started with around 210 participants (we aren't an offical club yet, so this is our practice run to show the University that we can do this without anyone getting harrased, hurt, or raped ).

Anyways, at day 3/5 atm. Currently 179 humans left with 32 zombies around campus. We have broken up into 5 clans (or so, one for each campus area: North, West, Central, East, South) and are having 1 main event per day. There are also 5 cures around (1 per campus area) that can cure two zombies each. One of 3 roomates was just turned into a zombie 30 minutes ago, so things should get interesting. I haven't left the dorm without socks, 2 guns, and a pomegranate load of ammo for several days now. Good pomegranate.

My school's HvZ game just recently ended....

We had a total of 620-some participants (which was a LOT, if you think about it). Sadly, a good portion of those people chose not to participate, and it did show.

Anyhow, we just had our final mission, and the human side (I was part of the "last stand" survivors) pretty much got slaughtered at the very last part of the mission. Simply because we lacked manpower.

Lessons learned: I run out of ammo ever so easily (I will plan to buy ammo in bulk off Amazon before the spring HvZ gets underaway). And I'm thinking about getting the Alpha Trooper (or a slightly better Nerf gun) next time around as my Recon-6 sometimes didn't deliver up to my expectations.

So tomorrow is the last day. A good amount of people dropped out, but we still have a decent amount left. Around ~100 zombies and 40 humans or so. Kinda scared for my life D:

At least we have gained a good amount of recognition around campus so next semester when we do it again we will have a much larger group.
