I think the whole point of this chapter was to establish the strawhats were the good guys and hodi is just some lunatic trying to justify his lust with past grudges. Oh and that brooke isnt completely useless

No, i think the chapter is meant to explain why hodi is such a chump in comparison to the straw hats. One side has conviction, while hodi and his gang "are just empty opponents". Because they lack will, and because they lack any real reasoning behind their actions, they fight terribly in comparison to hardened fighters like the straw hats. That's why he has to use those pills.

Also, soul sword is pretty f'ucking cool. I never really expected brook to actually be a competent fighter, but he's immortal so that kind of makes up for it.

So Hodi and his gang are just like a bunch of pissed off teenagers living in the suburbs- they complain about how people put them down and life is unfair and dur dur dur

With this chapter we now know Oda doesn't really know what to do with this arc. Hopefully he'll end it soon.

This arc is taking too long But I guess that's what we get after a super fast arc of awesome battles and plot development. Right now it's just meh and been dragged out a little too long for a lot of people. This is like Ichigo versus Aizen all over again >.>

Not a great chapter, I guess it could have been worse.... somehow. I think I need to start reading one piece only once a month or somethign so I have 4, sorry, 3 every other month, chapters to read at once, maybe it'd be more intresting then.

This arc is progressing a lot slower than the war of Whitebeard. I think we got too used to the war pacing and when it comes to actual development as per the usual, everything feels slow (like REALLY slow).

But yeah, there's been too much back story as of late. We already knew Hodi was driven by hatred and revenge. This chapter only "confirmed" it.

I dunno, I think Luffy punching a HOLE THROUGH A PERSON was worth the un-needed back-story. Plus, it's clear he wrapped it up this chapter, and, I mean.... come on. Hole. In a person. Clear through.

I think it was mentioned in a spoiler somewhere that he hardens his fist and then uses the resistive friction in air (or in this case water) to ignite the armour.

I'll believe that when I see it. It's happened so many times in this arc that I don't know if I believe that luffy could punch out hody if he wanted to.

I don't recall them ever having strengthened skin, it was stated several times in the arlong arc that humans are a lot stronger than regular humans...which obviously meant pomegranate all because zoro, even at the level he was in east blue, managed to beat up every fishman in the base other than arlong and the two who sanji / ussop fought.

How did he do that explosion? Insanity.

He did the same thing sanji does for diablo jambe, vibrate the body part until the friction causes it to catch fire.

Fishmen are significantly stronger than normal people, doesn't mean they cant be beaten by humans, just means their "base stats" are much higher.
