Excuses not to go to school prom?

jesus christ what is wrong with you people, are you that aganist HAVING FUN?

Fun is subjective. I can guarantee you that some people, like me, would not have fun there. The degenerate social customs of the event, such as dressing up in suits and dresses, along with the overall superficiality of the event gives prom a flavor that tastes like mildewed goat cheese on crackers. I'm not against fun. I love having fun. Who doesn't? My definition of fun is different from other people's definition. I find fun in being out in nature and making up nonsensical sentences. In the end, people may con themselves into believing they are actually having a nice time pretending to be proper, but are they really having a good time wasting time on an event that has no importance?

you're doing a lot more judging than you are analyzing. time you enjoyed wasting is not wasting time. maplestory, whether or not you still play it, ends up being a bigger waste of time than going to a dance since dancing gives you physical exercise. you're not exactly in a position to call people superficial for opting to go to a dance rather than have fun "the right way".

And you're going on entirely about the last 15 or so words of his paragraph as if it'd been the only thing he'd said. It surely was uncalled for, but doesn't altogether invalidate his other point there.

Say that you're going to break the world record for longest amount of time spent sleeping and you won't be able to make it.

You already said yes so just go!

But if you seriously don't want to go, just tell her the truth.
Women change their minds all the time so why the hell can't you. Sheesh.

Because usually women get all pissed when a guy changes his mind.

Say you're in a performance art group and you're doing a piece called "24 Hour Long Nap" and you have a dress rehearsal that day/night.

Problem solved, told her it honestly as in I have a lot of courses already and don't like dancing. She seemed okay with it and said she'll ask some1 else then.

I lol'd. You're superiority complex is showing. Bad.

Protip: Just because you think you are more intelligent and "aware" than everyone else doesn't mean you really are. Wink

I didn't go to my high school prom. Take that for whatever it's worth. Basically, if you want to become a pessimistic mid20s virgin with no friends, do what I did!

Just kidding.

But maybe not.

Slightly OT from the Satellite's issue: You mistook my statement for something else. Social nonconformist is more like it. There are many distasteful customs involved in society that are reflected in prom. Besides, I don't believe in superiority or inferiority. Those terms are meaningless. Everything and everyone is equal. In the end, don't assume Wink

Back on topic: See? Problem resolved. The girl took it well. All you had to do was be forthright to begin with. Now she can go with someone else and you can go on with your life =)
