New chapter but meh not much to say.

Does anyone still care about anybody on Fishman island? Why does Oda feel it necessary to give half a chapter to masses of side characters? There's already two large scale battles going on, and we get to see civilians evacuate! Thrilling!

Well at least zoro gets pomegranate done. Unlike luffy.

I have two ideas about what's next for zoro:

1. Hyozou or however you spell it isn't that weak and have a special move or something/ he eats loads of steroids to match with zoro's strenght

2. Hyozou wasn't the strongest swordman on fishman island and zoro gets to fight the real strong guy.

Or zoro just kills him because this arc's fight's are boring.

This whole arc has been... meh. Maybe it's because it's been a year already and nothing really interesting or awesome has happened.

I'm annoyed by how we shifted completely away from this arc's cliffhanger and went to evacuating the civilians and the rest of the crew's fights. Usually, Oda waits to show the entirety of Luffy's fight AFTER the rest of the crew's fights are done; but he's running all over the place with these fights. I get the point that this arc is supposed to be that much easier that we're seeing it offscreen, but I'm kind of annoyed just to get the little snippets shown in a really fragmented style like this.

About the overall quality of the fights, though- kinda lame this chapter for the most part. I wish the Wadatsumi fight wasn't so disappointing. Pretty much all we saw was of Sanji teasing and provoking Wadatsumi, and neither him nor Jinbei did anything that advanced the fight. Also, poor Brook's fight got shafted by only getting a single panel of screentime. The only really good part was Zoro vs. Hyouzou, Chopper and Franky's fights were fine.

I'm more sitting in the boat of it's because Zoros going around one shotting every goddam thing that dares to walk in front of him, yet luffy dicks around spending whole chapters doing nothing in his "fight" with hodi, and even when he does decide to hit him, it basically does nothing.

That's just because he isn't worth fighting when the massive ass ship is still an issue. Hody still has to consume pills when luffy decides to be serious about getting him off his own back. Those things are doing the fighting for him.

Luffy is like a 9.
Zolo is like a 7.5 (7-8 really)
Normal Hody is like a 4.5
Steroid Hody is like an 8 in the water, maybe 7 wherever has air.

Just to give my perspective to compare it:
Vander = 3.5
Jinbei = 8.5
Sanji I guess has to be near Zolo but I want to put him at 6.5

There should be a big difference, but is there? Of the two people both of them have attacked in this arc

Luffy attacks undrugged hyozu with gear second : Gets blocked and luffy gets poisoned which only didn't go much worse for him due to dumb luck.
Zoro attacks hodi underwater, 2 attacks (one blocked by using another person as a meat shield) later, and Hodi is in a cataonic state and unable to actively swallow a pill on his own.

Zoro attacks drugged Hyozu and with the only actions zoro took being blocking an attack aimed at robin, followed by immediately breaking all of hyozus swords.
Luffy attacks hodi? He is able to get an odd hit or two in, and stays at the very least awake and able to take the pills he needs when he needs them/

And this is without even touching on Zoros stronger techniques that would involve Asura, versus luffy spamming gear second at every opportunity.

Which is why it's so ridiculous. There was absolutely no good reason for luffy stopping sanji going up there (after giving him the coral) and beating the ever loving pomegranate out of Hodi. Everything thats going wrong right now is luffys fault, because sanji can actually, to quote the crew "Move as fast as a fishman" underwater, wouldn't be weakened at all, and could have had this all done and dusted.

And thats without even mentioning the idea of sending Jinbei up there to deal with it, holy crap.

We haven't even seen gear second + haki hax.

We did once, vs the pacifista way back, it didn't strike me as that impressive since Zoro and sanji then managed to do the same with old techniques (Diablo Jambe) or not even using a named tech (Zoro just slashed the thing).

This arc has already taken way too long. And we're inevitably going to get another set of stupid flashbacks for hody.

If this arc came directly after the Thriller Bark arc, it wouldn't be a big deal. But because we haven't seen most the straw hats for like 3 years at this point, and because we're interested in their new powers, it's practically unbearable.

Drake has some kind of eyepatch and Capone has a beard. Cool.

Not to mention Killer has a goatee and apparently split up from Kidd, which have a mechanical arm and tons of scar. Also, Law has a new hat.
