Just because someone kills the instructor doesn't mean the recipe will drop.

Dawn, Blaze, etc etc drop the cape recipes too.

You got the fragments from botters? I didn't see a single one in Khaini.

Rather ridiculous that these are so difficult to make that it can't be done reasonably without the help of botters.

Occasionally you will see a few of the Dream Fragments in the FM, but it would take a very long time to gather enough. Farming youself would take hundreds of hours. I get only one or two every few hours, but perhaps the advanced knights drop them more often (I die quickly if i go there).
