I've recently tried to install maple onto my laptop. As soon as the download is done I get and error message stating "Cannot load game data". I have Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit and it has been fully updated. I've searched other forums with no luck. Any help is appreciated!

windows vista or windows 7 or windows XP or what
HOME BASIC is just a term used to identify what features your version has, its not an operating system in and of itself.

have you tried downloading the installer manually instead of using their silly 'click play game to install the game" nonsense?

Yes I always use the manual download. I ended up having to put the install file on my EHD, Run the install files on another computer place Maplestory back the EHD, then place Maple on the laptop with the issue manually. Such an odd problem.
