I remember that "1.9 pre x" worlds have a LOT of water, and with a lot, i mean a FRIGGING LOT. Playing around with Nether portals i always landed under BIG AND LARGE amount of ocean chunks with no land to be seen miles away (I was in creative and even then the flying distance between some land and another was pretty much BIG)

Now if we were given a sail boat, I understand wanting oceans but whats the joke of having them if you can't explore them since boats are slow, I wish we would be given a boat/float block that way we can make any kind of aquatic vehicle.

I spawned a random world to mess around on with my little cousin but.... there was one island like 8x8 and i was on a boat for about 10minutes and there was no sign of land anywhere should have saved seed =P.

In the picture is the land (1 tree) where the spawn point is.
I am building something in creative so I have arrows in the world pointing where things are.

But there is few very, very small islands in the sea but no big land.

Some people have a lot of time on their hands. Also the Aether was renamed to the ender/end and apparently the idea of sky island World was canned (Permanently or for the meantime i dunno).

Why? If you're having fun it doesn't matter you suck, thats like saying "I'm quitting life because I can't win like Bill Gate".
Since they are changing the sky dimension into the end I wonder if it would be like it (floting islands)?

Given that they made a timelapse on it, I'd say they built it a few times before. Heck, even with the tower castle I was reproducing, I initially considered making an excel spreadsheet paging each level of height to be 100% accurate to scale and have a means of reproducing it quickly regardless of server. That quickly went out the window when I realized that the original in game scale was not interior/exterior scaled correctly, and the blunt fact that I don't have the time. Anyway, while I do agree things like this do look pretty, I'm more impressed personally with ones that accomplish both that and remain practical to the player scale.

But it is true that the skill level of others does often discourage me as well. Hell, even here in SP's art section I've occasionally felt the urge to post some of my better art (high school level, nothing fancy), but some of you guys blow me out of the water and then some.

Back on MC though, I often use the environment to make up for my lack of skill. Find just that right spot, and you can make anything you make look impressive.

Yeah, the End =/= Aether. Aether/Sky Lands was scrapped as far as I know.

And yes, you can travel there in 1.9pre4.

Too bad im running a heavily modded 1.8.1 minecraft >.>... oh well i guess i could create a new world and test this for a while.

Protip for people playing with industrial craft: NEVER EVER change from 32eu/t Storage units to the 128eu/t Storage unit WITHOUT doing some serious redesign to your grid otherwise your machines could go BOOM on ya >.<
