I just found out that I got selected for the Public Beta Environment (PBE) via email - in other words, beta testing - which means I get to toy with the new sh'its and giggles that Riot has developed and see if there's anything wrong with it before it goes live on the main server.

If you guys haven't, be sure to check your emails to see if you got picked to be a beta tester. I won't mind leaking sharing with you guys what's in the beta server, lulz.

Note: You can only be selected if you're level 30.

Not trying to offend anyone, but this makes me wonder what Udyr was thinking in terms of selection. It isn't the same thing as the PTR (and I know for sure it exists), but something like the PBE would still have a couple issues to resolve when it comes to interacting with the playerbase.

 Fun Brand Game

I was middle against a skinned brand, and being somewhat inexperienced I just basically mirrored his actions at the start. Sometimes shaco tried to counterjungle lee but i just killed him (2 times). Also their bot overextended and gave me kills too (2 times).
Anyway, about 15 min in their brand totally flasheqwrs me and I die. So I buy a negatron and head back and copied the exact same thing killing him. then I killed him 3 more times by simply outperforming him (lol, reminds me of the OoT water temple midboss). Admittedly tho the cloak probably made a big difference. Also his build was weird.


TLDR: Playing mirror matches can actually be a really good learning experience

Oh boy....critical bugs already popping up on PBE. Its down for the time being while Riot fixes it up.

So two games ago I was mid against another lux. I was on purple team. The lack of vision and needing to move the camera REALLY hurt me there. While moving the camera I'd barely spot the E coming to me and by that time it was too late to run. It'd get me each time >>

Our jungle tryn told me to stop dying. (I had 2 deaths)

Yet never once did he come to try and help me out in mid. Instead I died from a coordinated dive from the lux and the enemy's jungle tryn (who completely destroyed ours).

Sighness. But I guess that's what happens with solo queue. I must admit though, solo queue has helped me grow a LOT as a player. So it has wonderful upsides. And as such, I'll continue solo queue to continue my growth as a player

Soon enough I'll try out anivia and karthus in solo queue.


Lux runes:
flat armor yellow (I find that basic attacks kill me more often than magic in the first few levels).
cdr blue
mpen blue
AP quints

I have mana regen/lvl yellows... but by late game, I'll have a blue buff (hopefully). So it'd only really help midgame (like lvl 6-14?)And if I don't have enough mana to cast a spell... that means I'll have to (on average wait for 50+ mana to regen. My basic regen is like.. 14? per 5 after dorans. At level 10 that's only about 6 more mana per 5 seconds... so 20 per 5. Meaning I'll have to wait almost 30 seconds just to cast another spell... that's a bit too much of a wait. And feels like a waste of the 9 runes. If I really wanted a rough gain of 6 more mana per second.... heck, I can grab almost any mana regen item to get me that much.

Does this make sense?

I'm really curious. I hear that mana/lvl yellows are a preferred choice, but I'm just not really seeing it.

I thought that too about flat mana regen seals but everyone seems to go with mana/lvl so I just bought those...Either way if I'm solo mid ap carry I only use my skills to harass and autoattack minions. With Doran it's usually enough sustain for a while unless I'm really struggling or go spam happy.

Unrelated: I really like playing Ezreal. I just had a game where I was 0/4/0 against Xerath (hadn't gone mid against one yet) and it was getting pretty bad. So I grabbed triple Doran Blades and Wriggles and it went up from there and we won. Got 6 kills after that and didn't die for the rest of the game. His farming speed is awesome.

Scaling mana regen is vastly superior to flat, unless you're using them on a duo laner. (Which is almost like.. never?)

I've been using a manamune build the last couple of games as Ez and it's been pretty good, gives some pure AD and I never run out of mana.
