Might want to take out the link to xdae's profile too, since it doesn't exist anymore. (unless you want to link to his new one, but i'm pretty sure he doesn't want it known to everyone though it is known)

Just a comment on your 4th job build: For some jobs, their primary skill mastery30 comes from HT (triple throw 30, berserk30, [ultimates]30, etc), making it nearly impossible to get unless you're in a regular HT'ing group. Hell, even mastery20 books can be hard to get (boomerang20). From your build you're assuming the level 20 and 30 skill books will be obtainable somewhat easily (if you can say "120-130 - max ___".

Prior to 4th job was released, many people planned their NL builds to be

120-130 - max TT
130-140 - max vemon
140-150 - max fake/mw
etc

Now, it's more like

120 - 1 venom for more dps/dpm
120-127 - TT20
128-140 - max mw/venom

So conditions will change builds overtime and like the level 1 venom, how people experience a skill will change overtime too (before 3rd job: omg mist sucks max explosion first!! Now: max mist first!). Of course, you've been around maple for a while so you know all this stuff, right? Tongue

Far as we know, most skills are easy to get. The only level 30 book that comes from HT for captains is air strike, and it'll be pretty cheap because there aren't many captains.

You're right though, we'll both probably change builds to suit this once it comes out and we have more knowledge of this.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. I took his name off for now, unless he really wants it back on xD.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. That's why under the 4th job build explanation I said "With all 4th job builds, a great deal of it is dependent on funds and skill book availability. You can construct your build around what books are available to you. This is mearly a guide of what I believe to be the optimal build."

As far as I can tell, the Captain skillbooks seem common enough. Air Strike30 drops from Horntail, but I'm guessing it won't cost much more than Meteo30 does. Then again, Meteo20 is ridiculously rare so Air Strike20 could have the same problem.

I think now that we know about Battleship's endurance (or at least have a good idea on what it is), Rapid Fire before Battleship Cannon might not be as horrible of an idea as it was before.

*Slaps you in the face*

Why would you EVER consider that? I don't care how much HP it has at X level, if you actually get hit enough to break it you suck at training. Especially since you can freeze on the ship. Even if you do get hit it's just a 90 second wait or so.

I'm not saying it's a good idea, it's just not AS bad as before Tongue

We assumed it had 50-60k hp at all levels but by the time you max Cannon, it'll have about 26k hp.

Eh, does anyone know what those egg things were that the captain threw in some of the videos?

I've got a question about the Grenade 2nd job skill. Can you use it, regardless how close you are to a monster, to just go "melee", suck up hits and spam it to quickly drop it next to you? Like a Slash Blast?

Or would you end up swinging your Gun at the monster if it gets too close?
Reply
You can drop it point blank, but I believe it has some horrid skill delay. Otherwise, it would be viable to max, because then you can just spam the pomegranate with it off some cliff or at Gryphons/Typhons and any other stuff that flies around.
Reply
You probably have to charge it some certain amount for it to throw a bomb at all. Like in HunterStory.
Reply
Oh, right. That makes more sense. It was discussed a long time ago and all I recall was that it was pissawful slow to use in any sense.
Reply
you don't need to charge it up. you can drop one right below you by just tapping the key, but there's a small delay inbetween casts.

If you were to compare it's attacking speed with Somersault for Gunslingers, which would be faster?
Reply
Well you could go pseudo-Infighter and do something like Bomb > SKick > Bomb

But why bother when you can just Recoil and fire all you want?

Is bomb even that useful? cause in most build i see it beeing maxed 2nd to last, from boosters
Reply
Bomb isnt useful at all, its a waste of SP.

The authors of your builds are idiots. No one maxes bomb, and they'd have to be extremely inexperienced to think it's worth it.
